18.01.2022 Amidst the storm, something big is going on. Last Friday, Julia Steel dreamed up an idea. Realising there were a whole bunch of speakers and trainers with a wh...ole bunch of time on their hands, Julia asked: what if we could turn that into an event? Not just any event. A massive online event. The festival of all festivals. And then she did it, in just 4 days. VID19 Conference launched on Wednesday. Today, at the end of day 2, more than 5000 people have signed up to participate. The most amazing line-up of speakers have donated their time and expertise to present sessions on a huge variety of topics - inspiring and equipping everyone to make a difference in the face of uncertainty. It's Day 3 tomorrow. The conference runs for 19 days. What the heck! It's totally free. It's live. It's interactive. It's freakin' amazing. And it's in your living room (or wherever you are). Don't quote me, but I reckon this is making history. So get on it. Register for some sessions. I'm speaking tomorrow (Friday) at 10.00am on "Making Bold: How to create the conditions for teams to thrive". See you there. #webinar #vid19conference #conference #speaker
13.01.2022 When people apologise after asking a question or expressing a point of view... what's going on? In this video, I talk about two "red flags" to look out for. If you'd prefer to read rather than watch, I'll include a link to the written version in the comments below. Enjoy!
03.01.2022 Please don't walk on the pasta Okay, so after my post on Saturday - Are you having a 'We' reaction? - I made the mistake of going to a supermarket. Sheesh. Believe it or not, there was some pasta on the shelves. Not much, but a few packets were left. As I walked closer, I noticed a (surprisingly neat) pile of spaghetti on the floor at the base of the shelves. I'm guessing a packet had slip and elegantly dropped its contents to the ground below.... What disturbed me was not the sad vision of fallen pasta, but that several people simply trod all over it as if they hadn't noticed it was there. Only, they had noticed it was there, because they glanced down briefly and then raised their arms slightly as if to brace for the crunch - like they were walking on hot sand. Now is not the time to be walking on the pasta. Now is the time to look for opportunities to create moments of calm and kindness amidst the chaos. To ask, how can I help here, before I help myself? That's a 'We' reaction. #leadership #kindness #giveashit #collaboration
02.01.2022 In the face of change, some people sit and wait. Others jump up and do something to adapt. Julia Steel is definitely in the second camp, and she's organised the most incredible online conference kicking off tomorrow... yes, Wednesday! I'm so excited to be part of Friday's line up, and can't wait to see some of the sessions kicking off tomorrow and Thursday. With people like Lynne Cazaly, Tracey Ezard, Christina Guidotti, Gabrielle Dolan Consulting, Amy Silver, Matt Church, Mi...chael Ellis, Cameron Schwab, Donna McGeorge ... just to name a few... I think I need to clear my calendar! #jokingnotjoking Hope to see you this Friday 20 March at 10.00am AEDT.
