25.01.2022 PREVENTION OVER CURE!! Now more than ever this is critical!! Here are a few tips to help keep yourselves and your loved ones healthy by supporting and strengthening your immune system:... Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables- if these are getting low in supermarkets try your local fruit shop, deli or organic shops. Otherwise frozen is next best option but buy organic where possible- Oob brand for frozen fruit is organic and in Coles and Woolworths Ginger, chilli and garlic are all natural antimicrobials so include them in your diet where possible Herbs such as thyme, basil, oregano and rosemary are all great antibacterial herbs that can be included in your diet Drink plenty of good quality water - keeping hydrated is super important for flushing out toxins and boosting your immune system Supplement with good quality vitamin C and zinc for extra immune support - please go to a health food store or chemist with a naturopath on hand to get a quality supplement at the correct dose (pm me if you'd like advice on this) Move your body - it’s important to walk at least 15-20 minutes a day to help stimulate your lymphatic system which is key to a strong immune system! Get plenty of sleep- at least 7 hours Breathe through your nose - the hairs in your nostrils are there to filter and prevent bacteria and microbes entering your lungs Practice social distancing and self isolation - the sooner we all do this the better! Stay calm- stress lowers your immune system. This is a difficult time for everyone but we need to do our best to remain positive and hopeful. Use this time to reset, heal, clean out the cupboards, expand your online business, learn new skills, read a book.......anything that will help you feel good and stay positive We are all in this together! Stay in the space of love and hope and let’s support our friends, families, neighbours and communities as best we can to keep safe and healthy

25.01.2022 It astounds me how some people don’t prioritise their health when it comes to spending money. The best investment you can ever make is in the health of yourself and your family!

25.01.2022 YOUR NOSE is a first line of defense for your respiratory airways!! Those fine hairs and mucosa (snot) that line the nasal passages act as a filter that capture up to 3/4 of the pollens, pathogens, dust, bacteria and viruses we breathe each day. These are then eliminated via lymph tissue lining the nasal cavity. When we breathe through our nose we also warm and moisten the air we breathe in. For example if cold air enters the nose at 6 degrees C, it will be warmed to 30 degre...es C by the time if reaches the back of the nose, and body temperature by the time it reaches the back of the throat. This is extremely important at the moment considering the corona virus doesn't like a warm environment. When we breathe through our mouth not only is the air cold causing restrictions to the airways, it will carry unfiltered pollens, pathogens, dust, bacteria and viruses straight to our lungs making us more susceptible to infection and compromised lung function. It can also lead to a dry mouth and persistent sore, dry throat. For people who are chronic mouth breathers, nasal breathing can be a challenge and feel uncomfortable. But making a conscious effort each day to nasal breathe as much as possible, will help it to become a more natural process. So remember.....your nose is for breathing and your mouth is for eating!!

24.01.2022 I love this time of year!! Cool, crisp mornings, clear sunny days, ugg boots and warm, cosy blankets at night It’s also that time of year where we can be more susceptible to colds and flus, and be tempted to stay indoors with a nice warm beverage than go outdoors to do exercise.... It’s important to keep a healthy diet that will sustain good health in these cooler months Autumn provides its own colour wheel of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Deep colours like oranges, reds, and purples are especially prominent in the cooler months. However, it’s important to strive for variety with your fall favourites. Fruits and vegetables with colour contain vitamins, minerals, fibre and phytochemicals that have different disease-fighting elements. The shorter, cooler days can make it harder to get physical activity outdoors. A good way to avoid those extra seasonal kilos is to keep eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables that are in season are typically fresher and more flavourful, not to mention high in vitamin C and Zinc to help prevent all those nasty winter coughs and colds. So enjoy a good variety of these autumn foods and you will help keep your immune system strong and avoid those extra seasonal kilos over the coming months

23.01.2022 As a Naturopath and Nutritionist I’m very conscious of what food and drink I put into my body in order to stay as healthy as I can be. But I’m not perfect all the time, particularly at this time of year!! It’s all about balance.....80/20 rule! Make good choices most of the time and your body will be strong enough to get through those short periods where good choices go out the window!!

20.01.2022 Eating is not about calories, fats and waistlines. It is about enjoyment, communal connection and nourishing the body’s inner intelligence. Eating is not about calories, fats and waistlines. It is about enjoyment, communal connection and nourishing the body’s inner intelligence.

19.01.2022 A pill-bleed is not a menstrual cycle or even a simile of one. It's a withdrawal bleed from contraceptive drugs that stimulate the uterine lining but shut down ...the ovaries. . There is not, and has never been, a reason to bleed monthly on the pill. The advice to do so was a marketing strategy to convince women and doctors that contraceptive drugs support a natural process. (They don't.) See more

19.01.2022 For all my clients who struggle to keep up their water intake Even in this cooler weather our bodies still need at least 2 litres of water (preferably filtered) daily to function at our best! Dehydration will cause headaches and other muscular aches and pains, affect energy levels and the ability to think clearly, just to name a few. And remember small amounts frequently is much better for absorption (and less visits to the toilet!!) than large amounts less often. Cheers to H2O

17.01.2022 I LOVE WHAT I DO!! Everyday I get to help people improve their health and well-being, and it’s an absolute privilege to do so! I’ve been in the health industry for over 20 years now........initially as a fitness instructor in gyms and teaching programs in schools, then as a kindergym and gymnastics coach, followed by years of study to become qualified in Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Medicine and Remedial massage. I’ve also added Buteyko Breathing to my list o...f tools to help improve people’s health and wellbeing. I own and manage my own clinic, work as the Naturopath at another multi-modality clinic, and run programs in schools educating kids on the importance of good nutrition for health. And I love it all!! Our health is our greatest wealth and we need to prioritise it now rather than wait until something goes wrong! If I can help you improve any aspect of your health and wellbeing I’d love to hear from you! Love and vegetables Simone

15.01.2022 Some great suggestions for vegetarians looking to maintain their iron intake

15.01.2022 I’ll just leave this here........

14.01.2022 You are soooo worthy!!

14.01.2022 DETOX!!! Something we need to do a couple of times a year that involves radical, restrictive eating and drinking over a period of time right?? WRONG!!!... Our bodies are detoxifying 24/7 every day of the year to keep our cells, tissues and organs healthy! It's not something you just do for a couple of weeks and then forget about for the other 50 weeks of the year! And it's not just the liver that works to keep our toxic load to a minimum. It's our skin, bowels, kidneys and minds that all play a part in this cleansing process. A heavy toxic load on the body will decrease energy levels, compromise your immune system, lead to skin problems and increase inflammation in your body, which can lead to chronic illness and disease. It's important to develop some daily habits to support our detoxification pathways, reduce toxic load and live a long and healthy life! Here are a few simple strategies you can implement into your daily routine to help: Limit processed foods high in sugar, preservatives and additives Limit intake of dairy, gluten, caffeine and alcohol in your diet Drink 2 - 3 litres of good quality water each day (I prefer Kangen water) Eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables and plenty of them daily! Increase fibre and good fats in your diet - wholegrains, nuts, seeds, avocado, hemp seeds, chia seeds - just to name a few Be conscious of the amount of chemicals you are putting on your skin each day and look at products containing more natural ingredients Move your body everyday - even if it's just a 15 minute walk Detox your mind - keep your thoughts and visualizations positive

13.01.2022 Complementary medicine doesn’t just provide a bandaid solution to a symptom. It works at getting to the underlying issue that’s causing your symptoms by giving your body the things it needs to bring back balance and heal itself It’s not always a quick process but well worth the time and effort for long term health

12.01.2022 Global warming......the gift that keeps on giving

10.01.2022 Did you know........? Bottled water is a $13 billion dollar industry!!! Most bottled water is more acidic than tap water! ... Bottled water can be sitting in containers for weeks, days, months, even years before it actually makes it to the supermarket shelves. 1500 plastic bottles are consumed every second The plastic bottles contain chemicals such as BPA and phthalates, proven to be hazardous to human health, which can leach into the water that people then drink Regular consumption of bottled water is detrimental to the environment, animals and humans due to the huge amount of toxic, plastic waste it contributes to our planet AND about half of all bottled water is tap water that has been purified!! Don’t be fooled by the ‘healthy’ image of bottled water!!! It’s anything but!!

08.01.2022 What messages are you feeding your body with??

02.01.2022 $20 for 20 minutes!! Online or phone consultations available now to help keep you and your family healthy in these challenging times $20 for 20 minutes!! Online or phone consultations available now to help keep you and your family healthy in these challenging times

01.01.2022 My brain is about to explode!!

01.01.2022 So many things to be grateful for right now!! Often when we are thrown into situations out of our comfort zone and into unknown challenges, it can be difficult to see the abundance we have in our lives, and instead fall into a mindset of lack With so much uncertainty in the world atm it’s just as important to look after our mental and emotional health as well as our physical health ... One way we can do this is to practice gratitude daily. Start each day being grateful for 3 things....feeling immense gratitude for each one as you focus on it This will help set your vibration and energy for the day to be one of love and light rather than doom and gloom
