25.01.2022 The day I had Toby, I was sitting on the computer chatting to my online mum's group in our regular Monday afternoon chat. They had to convince me that I was feeling weird because I was in labour (two weeks early) and sent me off to pack a bag. LOL If I had one piece of advice for new mums it would be this. Find yourself a group of new mums, online or in real life, that you can chat to in the middle of the night if you need to! I joined mine the day I found out I was pregnant with Morgan (nearly 21 years ago!) and those women are some of my closest friends today. We've shared everything. In the dream I realised you were this little again and tried to gather you both close for a huge hug but woke up (sobbing) just as Toby flew into my arms. Ten years flies super quickly. 15.01.2022 On a lovely day in April, this gorgeous guy asked his beautiful girl to marry him and she said YES! With a little happy dance thrown in. There are some moments that you cant quite believe you get to witness as a photographer. Ive photographed all sorts of beginnings, promises and firsts but this is just about the sweetest thing Ive ever seen and I still cant stop smiling. 15.01.2022 Fifteen years ago, pretty much to the minute, I took this photo of my oldest son. On this morning the day before he turned 5, I was walking past his room early in the morning and saw the sun across his face like this, highlighting the last of the baby pout, round cheeks and glorious eyelashes. I ran for my camera, thankful it had film in it, and shot two frames before he woke up with the noise of the shutter. This photo has been one of my most treasured possessions Today this boy is about to turn 20, this is his last day being a teenager (!) and this photo means even more today than it did then. Instead of feeling that this beautiful family of incredible women are headed back to their own time, I feel like I need to reach a hand out across the 14 years since this photo was taken and find the excited, passionate photographer who took this. She’s gone missing and I fear she is lost. Sometimes the hustle is overwhelming and ‘doing what you love’ consumes you.
