22.01.2022 Mental Illness doesn't discriminate and too many of our loved ones suffer in silence or tragically take their own life. Many of us in the Rockingham community wanted a Blue Tree to be a beacon of hope and start important life saving conversations with our loved ones. There are many within our community who have fought hard to make this happen in various ways and the thing that struck me the most was the common goals of those wanting a Blue Tree, namely:... 1. The undeniable passion to raise awareness and reduce suicide in our community for all ages and demographics. 2. For it to be community driven, with the community collectively working together to combat suicide. The City of Rockingham has identified 3 trees for the community to select from to paint Blue together. Click on the link to vote, it only takes a minute. My preference is option 3, the tree at the front of Baldivis Vet. The reason for my preference is two-fold; 1. The volume of traffic may have the capacity for increased exposure and thus a greater reach of awareness. 2. The safe space around the tree for the event, parking and potentially an information board for people seeking support. You may prefer a different tree for your own reasons and that is ok too. There will be a community event in the near future, which will provide the community the opportunity to be involved. 01.01.2022 Footy is almost here! My family belonged to this great community club since its 2nd year of operation in 2009. I was very honoured last year to receive the volunteer of the year award, whilst I was very honoured to receive the award, I was more thankful for what the Club had given me and my family. Belonging, friendship and an opportunity to help others. I'll always value mine and my family's time with PK Cats....
