25.01.2022 I just have spent three glorious days @adelaidecentralschool with the delightful @danielconnellartist exploring large format expressive portraits. 12 students and 12 different styles. All representing their creator in a unique way. Being a student again was both amazing and daunting. The creative highs and lows that just go hand in hand with this chosen occupation hit me and maybe more intensely in a learning environment. ... I really had to coach my mind as it slipped into those familiar ‘silly’ places. Interestingly I was able to coach myself as I have my students in the past. I reminded myself that this was the first time I’d used oils (day 2 over the top of day 1 acrylic base) so I was doing something for the first time... of course I’m going to feel like a kindy kid again! (Look up @brenebrown FFTs (f***ing first times). Super talk she gives. ) I think there’s still some work to do but it feels authentically me expressing myself artistically and giving myself ‘permission to play’. Only thing now is I have to wait a week for the oil to dry to be able to continue with her! A wonderful experience, and one I’ll repeat in this 2021 year of growth!

24.01.2022 A year for ‘Self Love’. When I first created this piece 5 years ago I really didn’t understand the concept. Thought it was ‘being selfish’. Nup! Putting our well-being first sometimes is exactly what required. Much love.

06.01.2022 Detail ‘Young at Heart’ I love the simplicity of these works. I really had to restrain myself but it felt good. It all becomes about colour, design and composition. My abstracts are generally so intuitive, not that this one wasn’t, but there was more planning as I couldn’t paint over it will multiple layers. ... It’s nice to work with structure at times. 01.01.2022 'Young at Heart' Acrylic on MDF panels Aren't we all young at heart? Given the blip of time we are on this beautiful planet we never really get that 'old'. ... This new artwork will be exhibited at Stamps Restaurant in Mitcham, South Australia until mid Feb. It's a six panel series and designed for a LONG wall! Each panel 900x600mm. Total length 900x3600mm. I'd rather sell it as one but will also sell as two triptychs (3 panels). Happy 2021. We've got this. x
