24.01.2022 THE WAVE 2020 Tangalooma EcoMarines is a Brisbane-based not-for-profit foundation working to preserve, protect and enhance the marine environment of Moreton Bay and beyond. The organisation collaborates with schools, early learning centres and local businesses to develop environmental conservation leadership among students of all ages. ... The focus is to empower students to own and drive environmental protection initiatives in their local communities to collectively improve the environment and waterways across our region. Great to see a couple of our schools, Banksia Beach State School and Pumicestone State School participating this year! #lovepumicestone

23.01.2022 R U OK? Today is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. It's an opportunity for family, friends and workmates to connect, start a conversation and be there for each other. If you notice a change, no matter how small, trust your gut instinct and ask R U OK?

22.01.2022 DISABILITY ACTION WEEK We celebrate Disability Action Week from 13 to 19 September 2020 to acknowledge the important and varied contributions people living with a disability make to our state, and rightly so! As a society we should always strive to empower people living with disability, to continue to raise awareness of disability issues, and work hard to improve access and inclusion throughout the wider community.... I look forward to joining Pumicestone's very own Bill Peacock and others tomorrow as we celebrate Disability Action Week together. #lovepumicestone

14.01.2022 The Youth Advocacy Centre at Caboolture has recommenced their outreach to Bongaree library/jetty and Bellara Skatepark with a Covid Safety plan in place. This is an absolutely fantastic youth service that I had the pleasure of visiting yesterday at the Skatepark. It was great to meet with the youth workers, Cultural mentors along with the other volunteers and to have the opportunity to show off my elastics skills to the young people!!! Bit rusty but brought back many memories. I look forward to supporting the organisation with some financial assistance for their upcoming NAIDOC event to be held on the 12th November. Well done guys! #lovepumicestone

12.01.2022 Today we honour and remember officers of the Queensland Police Service who are no longer with us. National Police Remembrance Day is a day to reflect on the sacrifice and unwavering commitment they gave to keep us safe. For their families who feel the loss of their loved ones every day, and for the entire policing community, this day is so important. Forever in our thoughts, forever we honour them.

01.01.2022 LIGHT THE NIGHT LEUKAEMIA FOUNDATION - SATURDAY, 10 OCT I am so pleased to be supporting the Leukaemia Foundation Light the Night event with a fundraising contribution on behalf of every Pumicestone resident touched by blood cancer. There are many in our community facing their own blood cancer journey, or have a loved one lost to blood cancer or are there to support for those affected by blood cancer.... This is why Light the Night, Saturday, 10 October, will be a special evening when we come together as a Nation to reflect, remember and share hope for a future free of blood cancer. For over forty years, the Leukaemia Foundation has supported and cared for people living with blood cancer, their families and their carers and they are asking the blood cancer community to share their own blood cancer stories and fundraise to receive their personal lantern to light on the night. Each lantern colour holds a special meaning and you can find out more, including how to get involved by visiting https://lightthenight.org.au/ or contact my office and we will point you in the right direction. Together, let's shine a light on blood cancer for those on their own journey, those who love and support them and those who we have lost.
