20.01.2022 Ok so this customer of a Honda Civic has been chasing a suspension knock in her front end for some time now, having had it look at a few times by other mechanics, they had changed front shocks thinking that would fix it, wrong..... I inspected the vehicle a week ago, and I found a lose suspension control arm bolt, (which was not hard to spot, rust around bolt), I tightened the bolt which made no difference, so I replaced the control arms and low and behold knock fixed.... there is not too many experienced mechanics out there anymore, problem should have been picked up!.

14.01.2022 I watched last night the segment on A Current Affair about the spare parts being supplied direct to the retail customer at low prices to help them save money when having their vehicle serviced or repaired. I think this is sad and also i would say unfair. My reasons being are: 1. Firstly ACA & shows like it love to attack the automotive industry always going on about how bad mechanics are. How often have you seen one of these programs about any other trade or what about the go...od guys, ever worried about what these shows do to them. 2. Yes the automotive industry has always been a hard one for vehicle owners to trust & mainly that is because most people dont know a lot about cars so they are not sure that what is being repaired actually needs to be done. Especially when they drive the vehicle and to them it appears to be fine. 3. As I was told once "Always leave enough money for the next person" Well this set up doesnt. Mechanical Workshops have over heads, they have families, they have bills to pay like the next person. And a good part of that is being able to sell parts & labour you take away the mark up on the parts and all they are left with is the money they make on the labour. Not cool. Granted some workshops mark up doesnt have to be as high as it is, but on a whole in my experience private sector workshops do the right thing. The workshops that arent doing the wrong thing are being tarred with the rip off brush. Also Larger businesss, larger over heads, larger prices - NOT always the little guys. 4. My final point (just so you know I could go on about this) This company selling cheaper parts to the retail customer says that they will warranty the part. Great but do you pay for wasted time - All to often parts are delivered and they can be wrong - Human error, who pays for the time wasted. While the customer logs back on & reorders? Find a good mechanic that you trust, let him do his job, let him earn his overheads and his income. Cutting corners costs time and money. See more

14.01.2022 Hi all!, today we have a Mazda 6 in for a fuel system clean, customer was complaining about engine pinging under load (rattle from engine accelerating up hills), the 2 main reason for this is particularly blocked injectors (poor fuel spray), and carbon buildup in the cylinder head, the fuel system service will clean the injectors (restoring the fuel spray pattern), and remove the carbon from the cylinder head, improving fuel economy, engine power and performance. 08.01.2022 Hi all!, something I want to share about new car dealerships trying to lock the customer into coming back to them for service, in 2017 I serviced a brand new Skoda, first service, after completing the service we always fill in the service book, but there was no service book, I advised the customer to contact the dealership to find out where it was, he was told there was no service book for his car as they now use an online app that only the dealer can access, fair?, not!, my ...friends Mechanic Match did some checking up and found out the this is I trial thing, you have every right to have a service book for your car make sure you get one!, we have formally asked the ACCC for a ruling on this and will keep you updated when we find out, so not fair for the customer who has every right to get there car serviced where they feel safe and trust there mechanic! 02.01.2022 This is a common problem with brake calipers especially in you older cars, bust boot splits the weather gets in and start to rust up the piston, brakes start to stick or grab, uneven pad wear and even steering wheel pulling one way, can be dangerous, never leave a caliper like that.
