21.01.2022 SSC Fans - we're building a website, and we need your help. We want your best racing quote. Current frontrunner is: I’m tripping major nutsack right now. - Ricciardo, 2018. ... Comment below!
21.01.2022 To celebrate Max Verstappen (or rather someone other than Mercedes) winning the 70th anniversary GP (better known as Silverstone II) and simultaneously make you go , here is something that I can only say comes from a place of passion and pride. How miss placed those feelings are? I'll let you decide. https://youtu.be/43HCYSXZ9GI
19.01.2022 This, this is cool. (long 90's F1 post ahead) Anyone who knows me (Mat), knows I am an engineering nerd, especially when it comes to racing cars. The 90's was peak nerd time in F1, with Williams perfecting the active suspension car, Ferrari introducing the electronically controlled semi-automatic gearbox (yes I know that that's technically late 80's but they only got it to work in the 90's) and Benetton totally not having traction control in Mr Schumacher's 1994 car (spoiler..., they did). McLaren were even rumoured to have implemented the first mild hybrid system, whereby on a qualifying lap the alternator would be turned off and all the electrical load taken care of by a battery, gaining them ~5killerwasps. But that's not why I am writing to you today. Developed during the 1997 season and used to great effect in 98 until it was banned, McLaren also ran a 'brake steer' system. The driver had a third pedal (F1 cars have hand clutches) that was connected to the inside rear wheel, which they could use to help turn the car in on corner entry or control wheel spin on exit. Why am I telling you this? Because now you can drive it! Automobilista 2 have just released the 1997 MP4/12, which includes the ability to map a control for the brake steer system! Man I love Sim racing. Check out the details in the link. https://store.steampowered.com//1/view/4573922887040776707
14.01.2022 This little gem from Beau Albert SimRacing even taught this Iracing veteran (2012) a thing or two. Swing by his youtube channel if you have a spare second as he puts out some well done stuff, especially if you are just starting your sim racing journey.
14.01.2022 Hey SSC friends, if anyone owns, or is looking at getting a Next Level Racing rig, would highly suggest joining this group! Sales, troubleshooting, and of course, showing off your rig. https://www.facebook.com/groups/344749773150824/?ref=share
14.01.2022 Hi all, It feels like forever since the disaster of a launch that it was, but we are just starting to see a biiiit more stock of the NVIDIA 30 series cards. If you're interested in a high end build with a 3070, 3080 or 3090, or even just an upgrade from your current graphics card, shoot us a message! Happy to spec/price something up to your budget.
13.01.2022 In a rare Nick post, enjoy some me-mes. Actually hilarious.
10.01.2022 Now here is a sim that doesn't get enough coverage down in these parts, Race Room Race Experience. Apart from being free to download and play (with a half decent amount of content), they are head and shoulders above everyone else when it comes to organised competitions with cashola prizes. To qualify for this one you need to set a laptime on the three tracks before the end of November.... Check it out the link below and get lapping, let's show how fast the upside-down cars can be! http://game.raceroom.com/championships/62#overview
08.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT Simple Sim Computers is excited to announce that we will be broadcast camera sponsors of The Gentlemen’s Sim Racing Club Inc! In our over 15 years of Sim racing experience this is the best run club we have ever come across. Because it is run as a sports club the vibe of the joint is one of inclusivity and friendship, values that align very well with SSC's goal of making sim racing about maximum enjoyment for minimum hassle. They even include free coaching for members who want those extra tips to improve! We look forward to working with them and can't wait for their next 10 week season to start! Check out the about section in the group link below to find out more.
05.01.2022 Here we are with the next installment of the slightly serious showcase from SouthPawRacer proudly sponsored by Simple Sim Computers. In this one Rhys is having a look at the Istanbul Park circuit for this weekends Turkish GP. A track many hold as the best tilke-drome in existence. If you are a track design nerd (like me), want to have your feelings about *that* accident in 2010 validated or just want a reminder on how this track goes, check it out!
01.01.2022 Backing it in, here is the return to Motorsports posting Friday, and it's a doozy. Checo Perez is the first driver to test positive to covid-19 and will miss one of not both of the Silverstone races. So who is going to replace him? I personally would love a fairytale cameo from Hulkenburg where he finally gets that podium for the same team he almost won for in Brazil. ... What do you think? Which left field choice would you like to see? Let us know in the comments. https://the-race.com//perez-tests-positive-for-covid-19-w/
