25.01.2022 These days, engagement with other accounts is super important for improving your reach and own account engagement on Instagram (and Facebook, to a lesser degree). Engagement metrics can include likes, follows, shares, saves and comments. Engaging with the content on ideal client's accounts will help your business get seen, with the added benefit of likely improving engagement rates on your account too.... There are a few popular strategies around for Instagram engagement practices, including Gary Vee's $1.80 method. In this scenario, you choose your top 10 hashtags, then leave your 2 cents, on the top 9 posts (it can also work effectively for the most recent posts). Your comment should be REAL, not just a couple of emojis. And it goes without saying that if the content doesn't align with you and your business, that's ok, skip that post. Hope this helps!

24.01.2022 Hold onto your hats guys, Apple is changing things in a way that’s going to make advertising ‘different’ (putting it nicely) from sometime early next year. BUT, two things I’ve always appreciated about working in this space, is that you always have to be prepared to adapt, AND also, people still want to buy your products and services, even in the middle of a pandemic. Some businesses rely on the functionality that being restricted more than others, so each plan for each bus...iness can adapt as needed. It’s not an impossible problem, just one for creative solutions.

24.01.2022 How was your weekend? Yes, it was almost a week ago, but I'm reminiscing about the rained-out camping trip we had. It was brilliant to head out 'bush' with the kiddos and disconnect for a while (and by disconnect, I mean, we still had internet, I just put my phone away for a while ).... I HIGHLY recommend taking time out to focus on things other than your business once in a while. It helps me come back refreshed and refocused, with a renewed sense of appreciation that, for the moment, we in Queensland are more-or-less free to go and do what we want. 20.01.2022 You might think that in order to get 'the best' exposure for your business, you need to be on EVERY. SINGLE. SOCIAL. PLATFORM. YOU DON'T. Very rarely, it makes sense for a business to have a presence everywhere they can find space.... For most businesses, understanding your ideal client personas will help you to decide where to focus your efforts. In saying that, just because Tik Tok (for example) might not be the right platform right now, the users of social platforms can change over time, so it's worth reviewing every 12 months or so. Which platforms does your business have a presence on?

19.01.2022 I’ve just started working (again) with a small Gold Coast business, for their Facebook ads. Now that they’ve had some traffic through to their website in the past couple of months, creating retargeting ads have been super effective in gaining new customers! This is for a subscription based product, so the lifetime Return On Ad Spend (ROAS) is ridiculous! ... PRO TIP Using testimonials for your retargeting ads can often work really well for converting people who were undecided about your product/service.

17.01.2022 If you need to redo your Facebook cover image, you'll likely notice the difference between image size for mobile vs desktop. It's frustrating, isn't it?! To work around this, create an image that's 1640 x 720 pixels.... This size works well viewing from either device, and it's large enough that it doesn't go blurry, which can be a common issue with smaller images. Make sure you don't put any important information too close to the edges of the image, or it will be cut off on mobile.

17.01.2022 Can't see the forest for the trees? When you're working in your business day-in, day-out, it can be super challenging to see what's interesting, relatable and worth sharing on social media. I'm going to try to take action my own recommendations and just not overthink it so much.... The other thing I really need to do (and maybe you do too) is to keep a diary, writing down ideas as they come up. I'm constantly making suggestions, reading interesting ideas and picking up insights, but I often forget them throughout the day. Then, when it comes to taking the time to share some insights, I'll avoid that issue where I can't think of anything to write and my brain turns to mush. NOT HELPFUL. I'd love to know what works for you when you're putting together your social media content. Let me know!

16.01.2022 My FAVOURITE app for editing photos is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom! Mostly I love it because I can buy presets (filter settings) for consistently edited images and anything that makes life easier is a winner in my eyes! It's also got this nifty little 'healing' feature, which conveniently hides the little blemishes that would otherwise stop me from showing my face online somedays. ... It's super easy to use and many of the features you can access for FREE! What other resources would you like to know about? I've got loads of favourite apps and tools for managing social media content and ads these days!!

16.01.2022 It's fair to say that I've been well and truly absent on my social media profiles recently. I 'could' say that I had been taking a break from social media...but I hadn't...I just hadn't been making my own content a priority and I was lacking creative inspiration (which I know so many of my clients suffer from too). I kept procrastinating on it because, in my head:... everyone already knows this stuff someone else is already saying what I want to say I'm 'busy' I'm 'tired' no one cares about social media info I don't want to put on makeup to create a video I don't know what to say etc. etc. etc. None of this is ACTUALLY true, of course. I got out of rhythm and started overthinking it. Here's the advice I'd give my clients if they were in the same headspace... Your stuff is interesting to someone, even if you're a bit bored by it at the moment. If you don't want to do video, you don't have to, BUT it is a really valuable tool. Take note of the questions you're being asked, or that you see being asked to other people, and use that as inspiration. There are thousands of people in virtually every industry; that doesn't mean you're not allowed to have a voice. Share your own experiences. Commit a time to regularly batch content. It's not always realistic to share content on the fly, and that's ok. What's stopping you?

11.01.2022 Here are some ways you can support your small business friends: Buy their stuff (don't send yourself broke buying things you don't need, but seriously, think about who you know before immediately heading to the nearest big box, or the person who can pay for the most expensive ad) Tell other people about their business. Personal recommendations are SO VALUABLE and always appreciated. Engage on their social posts, or tag their products/brand/service in your posts (when it... makes sense). Celebrate their wins with them! Being in business can be lonely. Be there to share the ups and downs of business life. Leave a review on their Facebook and Google accounts, assuming you have actually worked with them! Fake reviews don't help anyone. Tag them in posts on FB groups that are looking for recommendations for someone 'just like them'. Which one are you going to do today?

08.01.2022 BIG news for accessing news (from news providers) via Facebook. News content won’t be available for Australians anymore after an ongoing argument with the Federal Government! 06.01.2022 I saw a really brilliant ad from Sam Ovens recently. Totally scroll-stopping. Sam's ad had a bright pink background, with AD written on it. That's it for the image. Ridiculously eye-catching. The text spelt out exactly what it was the audience was seeing. A paid ad. LIterally, it said 'This is a paid ad.'... It was so simple and engaging and I'd LOVE to see the stats on how it performed! TBH, I spend a lot of time scrolling through Facebook, to see what ads I'm going to get served next. I'm a little obsessed with seeing what''s out there, what's working and what's not. Sure, there's the Facebook Ads Library, but that just doesn't deliver the same level of procrastination I need some days, haha! Which brands have you seen creating awesome Facebook ads lately? 04.01.2022 There have been multiple reports of Facebook ad accounts being shut down for what would appear to be no reason. If it happens to you, you are not alone. Try to appeal if you can, but there are also reported issues when completing this process. Hopefully it will all get resolved in the coming days (or hours).

In any case, since I rarely go out to meet people who don't already know me anymore, (thanks COVID-19), these business cards aren't getting used any time soon.

01.01.2022 What do you do to get your creativity back? It turns out, I'm becoming a camper!! This is a BIG change for me! Taking some space to get a fresh perspective and stop the constant Facebook scroll that I 'pretend' is working, can be so refreshing.... I'm excited to check out some new camping spots and I'm also feeling super refreshed helping my clients with their socials. Overseas travel is out and camping is IN!
