23.01.2022 Fun Fact! Apparently the most viewed photograph in the world is the default wallpaper for Windows XP. The image named ‘Bliss, captured by Charles O’Rear in 1996. Supposedly he didn’t make as much money as you would imagine. Microsoft bought the image from stock website Corbis.

23.01.2022 My beautiful mum scanned a heap of family pics for me years ago when I made some precious scrapbooks for my sisters. Somewhere between the original photo, the scan of the original (on a home scanner) and the printing of the photo we lost a couple of heads. My equipment won't let this happen. We much prefer to keep the heads on!

19.01.2022 I moved to Darwin in the year 2000, when my dad was posted with the Air force. The hype at the time was the pending Y2K crash, everyone was talking about it, getting ready for itand then nothing happened. I remember thinking, ‘ok well it looks like we’re stuck here.’ I was a teenager at the time, and pretty miserable that I had moved away from all of my friends. Little did I realise that I would fall in love with the place and make it my ‘home town.’ I left for a couple ...of years to live in Canberra again, but the Darwin magnetic force field pulled me back up here. I have been through a roller coaster of loving and not-loving the place, but right now, I love being here and I am so grateful for the freedom we have had during the covid craziness. 18.01.2022 I love the ocean which is a challenge living in a place that has box jelly fish and crocodiles in the ocean, but it hasn't held me back! Where there's a will, there's a way right? About three years ago, I booked a ticket to Bali and checked into a surf hostel. This was such a big moment for me. 32 years old and hadn’t travelled overseas on my own. I remember pep talking myself in the mirror at the hostel, I told myself that I was a likable person and not to be afraid to just ...strike up a conversation with new people. The introvert in me was screaming in fear, but my extrovert was (nervously) pumpedSo I went downstairs, bought myself a drink and asked to sit at a table with others from the hostel. This kicked off one of the most memorable weeks of my life. I learnt to surf, a skill that I don’t get to practice much at the moment, but I long for and will be forever grateful forThe happiness it brings me is immeasurable. 18.01.2022 In Darwin we are faced with harsh elements that can really affect our photos - humidity, cyclones, rain, fire, insects, mould, fading...just to name a few...I can't imagine how I would feel if my photos were suddenly ruined. 14.01.2022 One of my customers arrived to the office with a big plastic tub of all kinds of bits and pieces. He had photos, letters, certificates, old newspaper articles, you name it it was probably in there! This box was followed by a number of other ‘drop offs’ next came some photo CDs, then an old SD card from a camera and lastly an appointment to help with iPhone and iPad photos. Total photo count was over 5,563 images by the time we finished! The greatest part for me, was sho...wing the customer some impressive before and afters of his wedding photos that had yellowed in an album. The Kodak Perfect Touch function had really brought them back to life. This was a task he openly admitted was not ‘of interest’ for him nor did he have the skills/equipment to make it happen. However, he knew it was important to have these special memories saved. He now has all of his precious items saved digitally as well as a USB copy for each of his children.
