25.01.2022 Hello new visitors ! Thanks for coming along. Were new users of facebook, but plan to use it as a forum to help travelers navigate through travel risks and dealing with their insurance options & outcomes. Our mission is to simplify the whole insurance thing, so you can focus on the fun stuff: the travel. A lot of companies these days dont really seem to care so much about their customers. Were a bit old fashioned, a young business set up with a very simple ethic - we ...want to satisfy your travel insurance needs. Like Mick Jagger said .. er.. sang .. "I cant get no SATISFACTION!" We notice that a little too much from Aussie customers these days, whether youre buying a phone & internet plan, or renting a car - all too often it seems like the vendors only care about taking your money and shuffling you on. Wed like your business, but even if we cant win it, we still want to make sure you have as much good, clear information that you need in order to make an informed purchase. (Even if that means pointing you to a competitor who specialises in pre-existing medical conditions, for example). So if you have an insurance question, no matter how curly, please dont hesitate to post it here. Not only will we help you get a clear answer, it might help someone else who has a similar concern. 24.01.2022 Green Eggs & Ham ? No thank you, Sam ! Food poisoning while overseas is no joke. Especially in countries where the cultural or practical application of hygeine is not the same as youre used to at home. Your body simply wont have the same resistances as the locals when it comes to fighting new bacteria, viruses & parasites. A few handy tips: - wash your hands carefully before eating... - street vendors can be known to sell bottled water re-filled from a tap, if the seal is broken, dont risk it - (same goes for beverages served with ice in them, the beverage may be OK but the ice may be from tap-water may not be safe) - freshly cooked (fried, boiled, steamed) food is safer - be wary of dairy products, milk/cheese/ice cream may not have been pasteurised - research your destination on sites like www.smarttraveller.gov.au See more

23.01.2022 Serious insurance company, with just a touch of disco. Weve taken a series of photographs designed to say that when you hold one of our policies, were with you 24/7/365 (but not in a creepy way)

19.01.2022 This is amazing. Peak Betoota.

18.01.2022 I would love, I mean, absolutely love, to visit this place. Its Aogashima Volcano - its in the Philippine sea, but part of Japan. I can imagine boating it there, and spending a week basking in the place & its (!170!) people.

18.01.2022 Were looking at creating a promotion this month, and (hopefully without annoying anyone!) putting leaflets with a special discount offer throughout Brisbane (our hometown). If you spot us, Im Simon and this is my puppy Harry, and theres a pretty good chance if you get a leaflet in your mailbox we either put it there, or paid an industrious kid to do it and spent the afternoon at a beer garden. The offer is available to any Aussie needing travel insurance, so when we get it... set up, well also post all the details here. Plan is to run the promotion (and its 10% discount) until Christmas. If you need insurance today and want a quote, well honour the discount just drop us a message here on facebook and Ill sort you out.

16.01.2022 Attention, Intrepid Aussie Travellers: Over Christmas and into the New Year, we will be running a promotion offering 10% off our Travel Insurance. The policy is underwritten by Lloyds of London (one of the most respected Insurers in the world), and offers 24/7/365 international emergency assistance as well as unlimited medical and liability. * And .. if you DO remember your toothbrush & undies, THEY are covered too .. theres generous luggage cover (theft, loss/damage, that ...kind of thing) * If you or any friends are looking at travel, domestic or international - do everybody a favour and flick them our link ? (* Usual stuff: terms & conditions apply, read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) available on the website www.simplytravelinsurance.com.au). See more

16.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen We live in the Era of Complaint. You know it, I know it. (In fact, I may get in trouble for the "Ladies & Gentlemen", Im not sure whats OK anymore, probably need to use "People and Other People", the internet has everyone a bit muddled). For the most part, I love, absolutely love the idea of equality, representation, compassion, empathy. But I think it should be balanced with authenticity and a take-it-easy-brothers-and-sisters kind of attitude.... BUT ... in the spirit of the Era of Complaint - weve been out popping 10% off discount vouchers into peoples letterboxes, and my kids have been helping. Theyve been told to absolutely respect any signs, but if youve received one despite a NO JUNKMAIL preference on your letterbox -- humbly sorry, we formally and without reservation apologise. My eldest kid is fantastic, but the younger guys want a turn too, and theyre not great-shakes yet with signage. If you have any questions about the insurance, please feel free to comment or message us. (Cheers!) See more

15.01.2022 Its beer oclock on a friday night. Have a great weekend, but drink responsibly, people!

14.01.2022 It's getting about that time of year, isn't it ? Christmas can be a wonderful and joyous time, all about re-connecting with family and friends, showing and sharing appreciation of people who are special to you. But it has a downside, too. For some people, Christmas can be a bitter time - folks who have suffered loss, or are feeling alone. Any time that is "supposed" to be joyous and happy can be especially hard if you've got a problem. Please remember that, nurture your own ...happiness and the happiness of others as we ramp up for Christmas and New Year's Eve. And if you're planning travel, take a look at our website (www.simplytravelinsurance.com.au) as it can also be a peak time for last minute travellers, so it's nice to have a bit of extra peace of mind. Also, if you happen to be a flamboyant billionaire who likes to adopt grown men and lavish them with gifts, it'd be bonza if I could have a new car for Christmas (please) (nothing too fancy) In advance of the Silly Season cycling up, please accept this message of Peace & Love from the team here at Simply Travel Insurance. 08.01.2022 Top Ten Travel Tips from smarttraveller.gov.au 1.Check the latest travel advice for your destination and subscribe to receive free email notification each time the travel advice for your destination is updated. 2.Take out comprehensive travel insurance and ensure it covers you for the places you plan to visit and the things you plan to do. 3.Before travelling overseas register your travel plans and contact details online or at the local Australian embassy, high commission or ...consulate once you arrive so we can contact you in case of an emergency. 4.Obey the laws of the country youre visiting even if these seem harsh or unfair by Australian standards. Dont expect to be treated differently from the locals just because youre Australian. 5.Make sure that you have the right visas for the countries you are visiting or transiting and check any other entry or exit requirements. 6.Make copies of your passport details, insurance policy, travellers cheques, visas and credit card numbers. Carry one copy in a separate place to the originals and leave a copy with someone at home. 7.Check with health professionals for information on recommended vaccinations and other health precautions. 8.Make sure your passport has at least six months validity from your planned date of return to Australia. Carry extra passport photos in case your passport is lost or stolen and you need to replace it while youre away. 9.Keep in contact with friends and family back home and give them a copy of your travel itinerary so they know where you are. 10.Check to see if youre regarded as a national of the country you plan to visit, and whether dual nationality will have any implications for your travel plans. 05.01.2022 This has absolutely nothing to do with travel insurance (um, okay .. visit Asia ! Buy Travel Insurance!), but its great great video: funny, cute, and when the little 3 year old boy explains why he dances, quite beautiful .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdcuaeYV9oM

05.01.2022 OK, so fair enough, Halloween is not really an Aussie holiday, and in these high-strung days of political correctness gone mad, we would never DARE do anything approaching on cultural appropriation ...... ..... but ..... ..... with Halloween around the corner --- if you have any travel, travel insurance claims or similarly themed horror stories, wed love to hear them.

04.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day For many of us, life is a mystery - something you try to muddle through with ethics and dignity until you work it all out. But theres one thing we can be sure of - we wouldnt be here without our mothers. They gave us all our early lessons, our education and are largely responsible for the people we became. Even an absent mother is a poignant lesson, because that missing piece in your life reminds you to be nurturing and giving in memory of the person you... have lost. Happy Mothers Day - we love you Mum. See more

03.01.2022 Word to the wise about Insurance companies. Some people imagine them to be evil mega-corporations, intent on taking your money and denying claims. Others, who have Insurers there for them in a time of crisis, see them as a god-send. (For example, the Brisbane River floods, Earthquakes in Auckland, any Aussie who gets injured or sick while overseas). The actuality is probably somewhere in the middle. When you buy insurance, youre buying an invisible product, basically youre... buying a promise that the company will be there for you in times of trouble. Insurers want to pay your claim, but they also face fraud and unfair situations on an almost daily basis. Some folks take insurance all of their lives, and have problems the one time they come to claim, which gives them a negative view on the industry as a whole. (Back to the original point, this is sadly a distorted view). You just need to recognise that insurance companies have to make honest claimants jump through a few hoops, and provide adequate proof of their loss - because they do deal with fraud. If you understand this, and learn to navigate the system, it can spare you a little stress. The one great thing about travel insurance is the way emergency claims are handled. There are dynamic assistance teams providing 24/7/365 emergency help in a variety of specialist legal / medical / logistical situations. Allianz is one of the greatest companies in the world, with an ethic that is rich and deep. They take their promises very seriously, and so do we. See more

02.01.2022 Quick Policy Statement for anyone who visits our page. We are an insurance business operated out of Brisbane, Australia. Our current focus is travel insurance for Australians travelling overseas (or domestically). We want to be authentic, helpful, honest.... We want to take the hassle out of a product that can be quite technical, but still make sure you have peace of mind and confidence youve chosen the right Insurance. We want to be liked. (Doesnt everybody?) But we dont want to sprout inane banailties, or make stuff up to sound relevant ... but that said, we reserve the right to post cute pictures of kittens. We love the idea of taking the best of old-school values and blending them with some of the neo-human ideals that are emerging over the past decade or so. We also love music. And films. And cheesecake. So if you come to our page, and have questions about our product, our brand, our industry, or anything at all really, please feel free & welcome to throw it out there (ideally in a polite way) and well always strive to give you a clear, honest and straight forward answer.

01.01.2022 With Australia Day just around the corner, I'd like to share a brief personal patriotic anecdote. Last year, my youngest son was in Prep, age 5, and enjoying the new and overwhelming experience that is public schooling. At assembly every thursday afternoon, they sing the National Anthem .... BUT ... kids in Prep aren't great shakes at reading just yet. So they kinda mumble along and figure it out, maybe copy the kid beside them.... One afternoon, I sit the little tyke on my knee and ask him to sing the Anthem for me. It was wonderful, classic, and for me the best part was the second stanza. In the actual anthem, it goes: Our land abounds in nature's gifts, of beauty rich and rare, in History's page let every stage, Advance Australia Fair My son hadn't figured the actual words and was singing: Our garbage trucks are very nice, we have koala bears, and kangaroos and cockatoos, Australia's Very Fair I can live with that last part. I hope we stay that way :) Happy upcoming Australia Day from Simply Travel Insurance.

01.01.2022 The weirdest Christmas traditions Christmas log The bizarre Catalonian tradition of caga ti (or "defecating log" in English) involves creating a character out of a small log - often complete with a grinning face and hat which sits on the dining room table during the fortnight leading up to Christmas. It has to be fed every day with fruit, nuts and sweets, and then on Christmas Eve the entire family beats the log with sticks, while singing traditional songs, forcing the log to excrete its treats. You couldnt make it up. Picture: ALAMY
