23.01.2022 Get More Use Out of Your Pool. We can't resist this idea, an Outdoor Floating Backyard Cinema. You could adapt it for either kids or adult gatherings. We're going to try and DIY a version with a projector, a bed sheet and a hills hoist washing line. Thanks to HGTV for the inspiration http://www.hgtv.com/

20.01.2022 Information every pool owner and user should know... but something that came as completely fresh news to me after more than 40 years of swimming and surfing... well worth 3 minutes of your time if you can spare it

03.01.2022 Pool Care Cost Saving Traps - LED lighting Ever been advised to retire all your halogen pool lights and replace them with more energy efficient replacements? Heard and seen the promotions such as 'up to 88% electricity savings' A cautionary word to the wise - for most pool owners, who might turn on the pool lights for 3 hours on Friday evening, and the same on Saturday evenings, and in the swim season only, this could be a very poor investment.... Here's why. Running 6 hours per week the old halogen will cost you about $3.40 per year in electricity charges. However, you'll spend about $320 on a new LED to replace each of those old 100W underwater halogens. Spending $320 to save about $2.99 per year isn't an investment a first year accounting student would recommend - it'll take you about 107 years just to break even. Even if your motivation is to save energy and the environment, you could make much better use of that $320. By all means, when your old halogens expire - replace them with an LED, but don't be persuaded by a misguided pool pro to throw out working halogens on the basis you'll save on electricity charges.
