25.01.2022 Has your use of language ever stopped you from trying something new? Maybe theres been a time when youve said Im not a morning person and dismissed the idea of exercising in the morning or even enjoying a cuppa on your own before everyone else gets up. Learn how to change I cant and Im not to I can and I am and unlock the benefits of a brand new hobby or routine. https://simplyhappy.com.au/try-yin-yoga/
25.01.2022 When I was a new mum I remember being told to make sure I rested when my baby sleep. Being a Type A personality proactive, organised and ambitious how could I possibly sleep when the washing needs doing, dinner needs to prepared and the house needs to be tidied up. I saw rest as a reward for getting everything done first. Its 11 years since my first baby was born and Im pleased to say I dont see rest as a reward anymore. ... Having gone through the process of getting a child diagnosed with autism was the most stressful time in my life. I struggled to sleep and was completely consumed by the process. Yin & Nidra yoga was the tool I used to help reduce my overthinking and anxiety so that I could sleep again. I realised that to be able to hold space for my son and the rest of my family I needed to prioritise rest and make sure my cup was full. Did you find sleeping when your baby slept difficult like me?
24.01.2022 To help cope with the unpredictability this year we start a couple of new routines. Every Saturday morning we’ve been going to the beach. My daughter and husband have been surfing, while my son and I’ve been riding. We’ve really enjoyed getting out in nature and building connections.... What’s a new routine you created in 2020?
24.01.2022 Theres nothing more motivating then being told your backyard would be photographed the following morning for an article by the Herald Sun about the impact of COVID on families. Lucky wed had lovely weather the weekend earlier and had started cleaning up the backyard. Both the deck and garden were in desperate need of some love. What part of your house would you panic clean for visitors right now?
23.01.2022 Hi, Im Narelle. As a PE teacher & wellness coach I know the importance of staying healthy both mentally & physically. As a mum of two children, one who was diagnosed with autism 3 years ago Ive come to understand the importance of REST and making sure my cup is full to be able to continue to hold space for my son and the rest of my family. Ive practiced yoga for over 20 years. I started to practice Yin & Nidra Yoga more restorative forms of yoga three years ago for its res...tful benefits and to heal my mind and body after living in constant stress mode. I completed my teacher training in Yin & Nidra yoga last year. Over the past 12 months, Ive been sharing my knowledge and passion of REST and Yin & Nidra in regular classes in Geelong. When Im not helping working women feel more organised so that they can prioritise rest I love nothing more than a good book, cooking, listening to a podcast because I love learning, camping with friends, hiking huge mountains (without kids) and sunny days on a local beach. Do you share any of my loves? Indie Lane
23.01.2022 Over the past 6 months Ive been working as a therapist assistant supporting ASD families and children with organisational challenges. Im always getting asked how do you support families? Its so different for each family. It really depends on the age of the child and their NDIS plan goals.... Some of the things I do are - ~helping set up routines for children to follow. ~helping to declutter an area to make it more functional. ~develop systems to help children become more independent. ~helping set up organisational systems around study and school work. ~working with other therapists to implement strategies like independent play, turn taking, recognising emotions in others and development of oral language. I love the variety of work and being able to use my strengths of organisation, patience, positivity and knowledge of the classroom and education.
21.01.2022 With the closure of gyms and yoga studios, in Victoria its time to look online for your health and exercise needs. One of the best things you can do to support your mental health at the moment is incorporate gentle movement that supports your nervous system and calms both your mind and body. Yin & Nidra yoga is the perfect option. Theres never been a better time to try yin and nidra yoga online.... You can practice from the comfort of your own home. You dont need any yoga experience. The only equipment you need is a couple of blankets and some pillows. Find out all about Yin Yoga and why it might be a great time for you to try it. https://simplyhappy.com.au/yin-yoga-benefits/
21.01.2022 Im really missing working from home with no-one else here. The peace and quiet. Even on the weekends I cant remember when I was home by myself. Im so grateful for the days when Im the first awake and everyone sleeps in until 7am!... When do you get moments of peace and quiet?
20.01.2022 I met both Leish and Patch @divine_journeys last year at their beautiful boutique yoga studio in East Geelong The Casa. Im so grateful for being able to teach my Nidra Yoga sessions there and also experience the girls 25hr Yin training last year. Last weekend I immersed myself in their online Yin training learning the theory behind the beautiful Yin practice. ... I felt so inspired and motivated from a weekend of learning and practicing yin yoga. Thank you both for sharing your passion and knowledge for living a more yin style life. What yin style activity have you been doing more in 2020?
20.01.2022 We are extremely lucky to be able to go for a family bike ride at the You Yangs today to celebrate Fathers Day and enjoy the sun. It was a like weird seeing my dad over a fence and not being able to give him a hug on Fathers Day. Sending love to all those dads and grandfathers who cant see their family at the moment.
20.01.2022 A study of almost 1400 Victorian families stated that found it extremely stressful. The top 3 challenges were keeping their kids engaged and focused, being able to complete their own work and having to play the role of the teacher. https://www.realinsurance.com.au/news-views/new-family-norm These are definitely my top 3 challenges. What about your family? Yin & Nidra Yoga has helped me to tune into my frustrations and be more compassionate towards myself during this lockdown. If youd like to try an online Yin & Nidra Yoga class join me Tuesday night 8pm. Use the link below to book your spot. http://simplyhappy.com.au/yinnidra/

To improve the sound quality Ive upgrade to a bluetooth microphone, added a rug and japanese screen. ... The plants and candles create an inviting atmosphere. 19.01.2022 Ive been listening to short meditations on the Insight Timer App in the morning for the past few years. Fleur was one of my favourite teachers because of her gentle voice and the style of questioning in her meditations. I decided to purchase her app @thehappyhabitapp and do some longer meditations during the first round of restrictions.... Ive enjoyed Fleurs reminder at the end of each meditation to be conscious of where my attention is for that is where my energy flows. Setting a simple intention each day has been really helpful to stay grounded and positive during difficult days. Im so grateful that Fleur agreed to be interviewed this week and sharing her story and how to make happiness possible every day, even amidst the disappointments and setbacks of adult life. Do you use an app for meditation?
17.01.2022 Over the past two weeks Ive been supporting my son with his remote learning in the morning. Week 1 went well and I think he just enjoyed break from everything. Week 2 was another story. He was meltingdown daily and struggling to engage with his peer mentor and the rest of the family by the afternoon. He was basically living in survival mode and his brain wasnt coping with everything going on. The difference between remote learning 1.0 and 2.0 is that children with additio...nal needs are able to attend school this time. My husband and I decided that it was only fair to both children and our own sanity to send him to school for two days this week. We knew wed made the right decision when he came home telling us all about the games he played at lunchtime. Hows your family coping?
17.01.2022 With our new slower paced weekend has come a new Saturday morning routine. My husband and daughter go for a surf while my son and I go for a bike ride. Some Saturdays we even enjoy Pain Au Chocolate and hot chocolate by the beach. ... Do you have a new slower paced Saturday routine?
15.01.2022 As a child Id grown up eating dinner as a family and wanted to do the same with my own family. But its a real challenge when you have fussy eaters that hate to sit at the table. My trick to getting my kids to sit at the table and eat dinner (well most of the time) is by getting their input into the meal planning. They use to select 4 of their favourite meals each at the start of the month. I now have a back of ideas that I use to create our monthly meal plan. The other addi...tion to our dinner table is a wobbly stool for my son to sit out. Hes now getting the vestibular input that his body is seeking while staying at the table. Im always looking for new ideas. Whats a favourite meal of your children?
13.01.2022 When I started Simply Happy 3.5 years ago this beautiful photo taken by Ange @ange_rae_photography was my website home page image. 13.01.2022 Worrying about things that are out of your control is putting stress on your nervous system which impacts your immune system, sleep and mood. 12.01.2022 We got our beautiful maltese poodle 4 years ago. Shes gets extremely anxious when we all leave the house. She has escaped over 20 times by digging under the fence. Now it has wire dug into the ground to stop her. She can even get the dog door open when its locked. Now it has a second door that we lock from the outside. ... Shes loving the new work from home and remote learning lifestyle. Extra walks each day, a different person to sit by each hour. 2020 is her best year ever! Is your dog loving 2020? credit Indie Lane

06.01.2022 Habits are things we do automatically. Remembering to take and put on a mask is a new habit Im developing just like most Victorians. I had a basket for them at first but I kept forgetting to grab one.... Last week I added two hooks to the wall at the front door. They are easier to see so Im now remembering to take it out of the house with me. I cant tell you how many times last week I jumped out of the car without it though. This week Im putting it straight into my bag from the hook. Its a small change that will hopefully help me remember when I get out of the car. Im sharing this example to remind you to be a little kinder to yourself while starting something new and dont forget to review how youre going. Sometimes it just takes a small change to make all the difference. Are you like me forgetting to grab your mask? Mask credit @16feathers
