24.01.2022 What are your favourite reference guides for Essential Oils? The Essential Life book and Emotions and Essential Oils book are my go to ones. I refer to them multiple times through the week to help me choose which essential oils to use for what and to find out the emotional aspect to oils that I intuitively choose. I find it so fascinating how well they can resonate which what I'm feeling and experiencing in my life at the time. Another great reference if the Modern Essentials book and book app. The App is under $10 and is a great way to have an easy to use reference guide at your fingertips, when on the go and when traveling. 24.01.2022 Last night we* whipped up a ramp/slide for our Pikler Triangle (wooden climbing frame) using some ply wood. We could have left it raw but it looked a bit rough and unfinished so I decided to make a seal/polish for it. Being a child's toy, I wanted the polish to be made from natural ingredients instead of using varnish. The recipe below can give a new life to scratched wooden toys, be used as a furniture polish, or to re-oil wooden chopping boards and serving platters while co...mplimenting the natural look of the timber and helping them to last longer. . *By 'we' I mean I bought the materials and gave directions while hubby handled the power tools . . . The photo shows what was left after I polished both sides of the ramp (1200 x 400mm) plus our dining table so a little goes a long way. . . Ingredients 10g beeswax (grated to chopped into small pieces) 40g olive oil (can replace with other liquid oils such as fractionated coconut oil) 10 drops of essential oils (I used 6 drops of tea tree oil and 4 drops of wild orange essential oil as I will also use this on chopping boards). Other oil suggestions are cedarwood, white fir, cypress, eucalyptus). Glass jar. I used a small mason jar (as pictured) that I could store it in to save the mess of transferring it from a measuring jug. Saucepan . Directions . Put the beeswax in the glass jar and place the jar in a saucepan with 1-2 inches of water, bring the water to a simmer until the beeswax melts. Once melted add the olive oil. The mixture will split but if you keep the saucepan over a low heat while stirring, the beeswax and olive oil will combine nicely. Once combined, remove from the heat, allow to cool slightly and stir through your essential oils. Leave the mixture until it hardens and then using a clean rag, apply the polish to your wooden furniture or wooden toys. You can either leave it on for 20-60 mins and then wipe off with a clean dry rag or just apply a thin coat to the wood and rub in thoroughly (this is what I did for the wooden slide). See more
23.01.2022 I have been loving seeing which products doTERRA are choosing for their Wellness Boxes but this one is probably my favourite yet. A box filled with absolute essentials for all year round but especially through winter. 03.01.2022 As the blue sky peaks out from the smoke filled sky and families start returning to their homes, it brings a certain unsettled feeling. A day of watching, waiting, acting, leaving, waiting, listening . Mixed emotions. Relief knowing that when night came we were able to return safely (but alert) to our home as the fire shifted direction and yet heavy hearts knowing that it was heading towards another town, other families and homes. Today; the sadness hearing stories of the ...homes and people lost and injured, the crops and livestock gone, the parts of forestry and native animals destroyed . And then seeing the generousity and outreaching of the local communities as they band together to help out where they can, to provide food, shelter, time, financial assistance, and more . At approximately 25000 hectares with an 88km fire perimeter, there are a lot of people affected by the Cudlee Creek fire. For those impacted by this fire and others burning across the country, and those who are still battling the blaze to ensure our safety, our love and thoughts are with you. Sarana . . . .
