25.01.2022 ALERT for all Simpson residents. We have had two snake sightings and one removal at the Simpson Hall in the past two days and another sighting at the Simpson Men's Shed. If you or your children walk in these areas please stay on the designated footpaths and keep watch.

25.01.2022 The bar has been set ladies and gentleman. We have our first entry in for the create a Simpspoonville identity competition and it is a ripper. This is the Simpspoon Lions Club, created by Sue Stevens, even the caravan and BBQ are included. Keep the entries coming. Judging will be on November 12th 2020.

24.01.2022 The February Ball'n'Chain is out now. Collect a copy from the Simpson Post Office or if you would like a digital copy let us know.

24.01.2022 If you are new to the area pop in and collect a Be Prepared Bag. Contains some useful fire prevention information and is a great prompt for what to have packed in the event of an emergency evacuation. Bags can be dropped at the Simpson Post Office for collection as well.

24.01.2022 A great opportunity for the readers and movie buffs to support Cobden Health.

21.01.2022 Another great entry into our Simpspoonville competition from the Barake family. We have Miss Jane, Miss Jodie, Miss Gappa, Mrs Murray, the Vogels motors team, Heytesbury Handyman, John Wright, Michele from a Little Bit of Sweet and Paul and Cheryl from the Simpson CFA. Great work guys.

19.01.2022 Don't forget to get your spoons in for our Spoonville competition. A $50 hamper from Little Bit of Sweet could be yours to enjoy. Entries close 9am 12th November 2020. On another note our middle Heytesbury Spoonfeed Silo has disappeared over the weekend so if you see it blowing around town can you give us a call and we will come and collect it.

18.01.2022 What a beautiful tribute for Remembrance Day, gifted to us by the Simpson Kindergarten. It makes us very proud to see the next generations acknowledging, understanding and respecting what our veterans and their families went through and sacrificed so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today. The story of the poppies and why we wear them for remembrance is shared on the Australian War Museum website. https://www.awm.gov.au/commemo/customs-and-ceremony/poppies In Flander...s fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae (18721918) Lest We Forget

17.01.2022 Friday Flashback -Harvest time on the settlement, lots of lush green pasture around. Not sure of the year/s but pretty sure some will know by the equipment being used. Photos courtesy of the Powell and Begely families.

15.01.2022 Who remembers the Historical Park like this? This shot is from 1973. It looks a bit different now.

15.01.2022 The Committee could not decide between the Barake and Beecher families as winner of the Spoonville competition, so everyone gets a Little Bit of Sweet Hamper. The moustache on Heytesbury Stockfeeds Butch and the opening jackets on CFA Paul and Cheryl were so well done. Sue Stevens is runner up with her take on the Simpspoon Lions Club. If Amanda, Michelle and Sue could call in to the Centre during office hours and collect their goodies it would be appreciated.

12.01.2022 When the kids can't trick or treat you take the treats to them. Special delivery yesterday for the Simpson Primary School and Simpson Kinder kids. Thanks to Michele at a Little Bit of Sweet for putting the bags together. Happy Halloween. #littlebitofsweet

12.01.2022 One more week to get your Simpspoonville entries in. We have a couple already and would love to see some more. That $50 hamper prize from Little Bit of Sweet will certainly make the effort worthwhile if you win.

10.01.2022 Love seeing a partnership project come together. Two of these "Eat and Shade" settings are being placed in Jaycees Park between the playground and the skate park so supervising parents have a sheltered seat with good sightlines of play areas. This is a joint initiative between the Corangamite Shire Council and the Simpson Community Centre with funding support from FRRR and The Gardiner Foundation. Can see these being well utilised over the coming summer by locals and visitors alike. Thanks to those local parents who assisted with selecting design and placement. #corangamiteshirecouncil #neighbourhoodhousesvic #frrr #draffinstreetfurniture

10.01.2022 A great opportunity to get fire ready and take advantage of the free green waste disposal at all Shire transfer stations between November 21 and December 13.

06.01.2022 We have two more entries in for our Spoonville competition. Thanks to the Beecher boys who have made Simpson CERT Paul and Heytesbury Stockfeeds Butch spoons. Awesome work boys, these guys will fit right into our Simpspoonville.

04.01.2022 A huge thanks to Paul from Bad Bull Mowing and Home Services for the clean up at the Simpson Public Hall and the Simpson Men's Shed garden. He has managed to tame what was becoming a very overgrown jungle and just in time for fire season.
