19.01.2022 OUR WONDERFUL CELEBRATION TODAY International Women’s Day held this morning at the Uniting Church was a great success. The talented Hannah Smith led us off with her exceptionally pretty voice and meaningful lyrics, followed by our keynote speaker, Sarah Brown, from Purple House, Alice Springs. Sarah entertained with stories of the organisation’s true commitment to keeping people at home on Country throughout their dialysis treatments which had led to enhanced wellbeing and ...tangible positive health outcomes. Followed by Georgie Trevorrow and the Deadly Nannas with connection to language and culture in song, sharing experiences of the Moorundi Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service and the singing troupe’s increasing fame and recognition around Australia. A scrumptious lunch concluded our wonderful IWD 2020. Thank you to the large attendance and the SIMB club for a truly outstanding effort. See more

10.01.2022 MEET OUR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT Last Thursday night it was a pleasure to award Mitchell Heward the SI Murray Bridge Tertiary Scholarship for 2019. Mitchell studied Year 12 at Mannum Community College and impressed our selection panel with a commitment to his studies, significant involvement in local sports, school leadership responsibilities, volunteering roles and more. Mitchell has started his course at Flinders Uni - Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Physiotherapy - and we wish him every success for a bright future. 06.01.2022 MEET OUR NEW MEMBER Fusipala Kalauta (Fusi) became interested in joining SIMB after attending an International Women’s Day event, learning about our work in advocating for women and children, as well as supporting local communities. I live in Murray Bridge; I am a primary school teacher and have worked at sites both in the Murraylands and Coorong Mallee. This year I have begun postgraduate studies at Flinders University, studying a Masters in Cognitive Psychology and Educati...onal Practice, which has been both incredibly challenging and rewarding. When I’m not working or studying I will be either in the garden, binge-watching a series (or two) or doing something creative. I am passionate about equity and social justice for all and I am very excited to be part of a group of diverse women who are using their unique abilities and strengths to contribute positively to their community. We are thrilled to welcome Fusi to our Club! See more
