20.01.2022 "There is no organ system in the body that is not affected by sound, music and vibration. You can look at disease as a form of disharmony. If we accept th...at sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder. ~ Dr Mitchell Gaynor See more

18.01.2022 WHY DO YOU DRUM? See how Raion Taiko Drummers and the Great Lakes Taiko Center from Michigan, U.S.A, express WHY WE (they) DRUM through this video submission! ... Last year Raion Taiko and community members of the Great Lakes Taiko Center shared WHY WE DRUM as the opening performance for our 9th annual showcase event. This taiko and spoken word piece was co-created with special guest Mike Ellison and presented by taiko players of all ages and diverse experiences as a communal expression of empowerment through taiko drumming. Although our 10th anniversary plans for this year were sadly disrupted by the pandemic, the importance of taiko in our lives has become ever more clear, and we are so happy to share WHY WE DRUM for the World Taiko Conference 2020 online video forum as we remember, respect, and reimagine what performing taiko in community with all means to us now. 05.01.2022 Hi all, I was recently fortunate enough to be asked to create this piece for the upcoming C20 Summit 2020, the civil engagement group of the G20. We remotely fi...lmed and recorded 11 different groups around the world separately and then combined them together into 1 piece of music and montage video to show that "we drum for hope, we stand in solidarity, we respect heritage and indigenous cultures, we aspire for sustainability, and we ask for global reform and change". And somehow, in the middle of a global pandemic, it all came together! So, here it is...drummers and musicians from Italy, Fiji, Native America, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE (plastic drums representing sustainability), Australia, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Brazil and my reason for sharing this here, representing Japan, my friend and taiko sensei Taro Kobayashi from duoWadaiko duo Teruhi who left Tokyo at 1am in the morning to shoot at the foot of Mount Fuji at sunrise and, in my (very biased) opinion, get the most epic shot of them all
