18.01.2022 News from the Delaneys! We are keen to share some news with you on what we have been up to over the past few months. Well these COVID times certainly have been testing for us and many of our winery friends. We decided early on in COVID to treat this time as an opportunity to progress a number of winery projects that had been put on hold over the past couple of busy years. The most notable of these was building the underground wine storage and barrel room and improved car pa...rking area. This project is nearing completion with the last stage being fitting the fire proof steel doors late November. One of the benefits of relocating all of our wine into the new onsite wine storage, is all of our museum stock is now here and accessible. We are thinking a vertical tasting of aged chardonnay is on the cards.....watch this space! Winery happenings Thanks to our son Kyle's bottling efforts, we are pleased to confirm our Pinot Noir is back in stock! 2018 is now available for tasting and 2017 will be here very soon. Bench testing of the reds has revealed that the 2019 Grumpier Old Bastard is a stand out wine and has been moved into the bottling programme as a priority. As Kyle and I have been ramping up sparkling disgorging for the festive season and pre-Christmas weddings, our young gun tweaked my dosage additions for two of our sparklings. The 2013 Talia sparkling chardonnay and the 2010 Rubida pinot chardonnay are now being finished with a drier dosage. After a decade on lees these wines have a richness and complexity that really shines through with the new finish. Just an example of the benefits of having a fresh palate look at our wines. Vineyard happenings The extra rain and cooler spring has been kind to the vineyard. Sub soil moisture levels returning to healthy levels, an abundance of flowers and an absence of disease bodes well for a cracking good vintage both at Norton Summit and McLaren Flat. As you know, we are passionate about our wines and our patch. For us the connection and expression between place and wine, the terroir, has always been about working with nature and being respectful of traditional wine making practices. Farming sustainably and handcrafting wines using old world traditional methods just makes a lot of sense to us. We have some great live music events coming up between now and Christmas and we would love to see you at one of them. So pop up sometime to enjoy a marvellous afternoon out under the shade of the candlebark trees and why not pick up some wine for Christmas while you are here. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Cheers Sue, Sean and Kyle

04.01.2022 Christmas wishes from the Delaneys! Well its that festive time of the year again, where has the year gone! And what a rollercoaster of a year it has been... I hope amongst all of the turmoil and uncertainty of this year, you have found some time to cherish those special moments with your family and friends. It sure has made us appreciate the importance of keeping safe, healthy and looking after each other.... We have been busy over spring and would love to share some news of what we have been up to. Around the Winery We are pleased to report the 2018 Pinot is now bottled, labeled and has found it's way home to the new barrel room. Lush, red cherry, spice and silky smooth tannins give this wine a long finish. Kyle and Sean are busy disgorging sparkling for Christmas, with Kyle tweaking the dosage on the 2008 Rubida and 2013 Talia. These wines have developed wonderfully with this extra time on lees and the reduced additions really showcase the complexity and richness that comes with bottle age. Bench testing of the 2018 and 2019 Grenache has revealed a few surprises including a stand out barrel of Grumpier aged in New American oak. We may keep this barrel separate again as we did in 2017 rather than blend it in with the French oak wine. Progress continues on the barrel room with doors and wiring all that is required to complete the project. The benefit being all our finished wines are now on site. Around the Property and Vineyard Flowering looks very pleasing, but the ongoing above average rainfall has meant the grasses are growing well into summer with no indication of slowing down. Many of the native lilies have held on and are still yet to set seed. Some long days and occasional late evening tractor work being required to keep everything looking neat and ready for bushfire season. Its time for you to relax and spend some precious moments to celebrate with family and friends. We would love you to come along to our Christmas carols happening on Sunday 20 Dec. Or pop up this Sunday to enjoy a marvellous afternoon out under the shade of the candlebark trees and why not pick up some wine or bubbles for Christmas while you are here! We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and wish you all a very happy Christmas. Heres hoping 2021 has many happy times in store for us all. Christmas wishes to you all Sue, Sean, Talia and Kyle
