19.01.2022 The Sun keeps a risin’ on a brand new day You gotta keep believin’ that we’re here to stay To sing together, on some-other day With this virus goin’ round, we’re homeward bound To hole up from all the risks around the town... We’ve got to keep in touch-down the cable With all of our laptops-on the table and screens aglow with faces we know To see and hear is a wonderful thing and the feeling inside that this can bring So take this forced break, away from life but keep in touch, and apart from strife We’ll be here tomorrow, if the rules, we follow And the Sun keeps a risin’ on a brand new day You gotta keep believin’ that we’re here to stay And sing together, on some-other day See more
18.01.2022 Singcognito is an a Cappella community choir. The choir is made up of people with a desire to sing. We are like a big family. The age of members ranges from some in their twenties to some in their eighties. We do not usually have a huge number of choir events through the year, but this year has been quite busy so far.... This year has seen us sing at - A funeral of one of our choir members. Kentish Choral Festival at Sheffield. Madrigals at an Early Music Concert at Inveresk. Mowbray Links Retirement Village. Relay For Life at St. Leonards. Australian National Choral Association Choral Festival at Scotch Oakburn College auditorium. York Town Square Night Market. Civic Square Night Market. The next one coming up is- Sing for Peace at Pilgrim on Sunday 5th August. Between now and Christmas there will most likely be some visits to nursing homes plus any other event we may be invited to. We have a very varied song repertoire, singing in English, African, Samoan etc. Our song list for a recent concert was- Lean On Me, Irish Heart Beat, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Fa’ afetai Le Atua, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Kuimba, Thapelo, Blue Moon, Come Again, What A Wonderful World, Hallelujah, Shosholoza, Java Jive. So if this sounds like the type of choir you want to be part of, come along to choir practice on a Monday night at St, John’s Church Parish Centre, St John Street Launceston from 7pm to 9 pm.

14.01.2022 We had a lovely sing tonight even though we were low in number. It was decided, however, in light of the current health situation, that Singcognito will have a few weeks’ break and re-assess after Easter. We will see how things pan out and will keep in touch with you all during the time off. Remember we are all here for one another, if anyone wants to chat or send emails, don’t hesitate to do so. Please keep yourselves safe, keep calm and keep singing!
