20.01.2022 Stay in the moment: When practicing a piece or playing a piece in a performance, it is repetitive. Each night, youll play the same repertoire. Each practice session, youll play the piece three to five times through. If at each session you try to replicate what youd achieved in the last play through, youll get frustrated. Comparison always brings frustrations because its always not going to be good or not good enough. But if we play like it is the first time we are d...oing it, then it will stay fresh. Each rendition will be articulated differently reflecting your mood and the atmosphere of the surroundings. The Persian musician, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi says of his own performances: "Even in the same place I always play different. I react to the unique atmosphere and try to find a balance between audience and stage." Kultur, Ed 29-2019, page 23: Mohammad Reza Mortazavi on tour in Australia. 19.01.2022 "Playing the piano will definitely make us smarter" The whole art of playing piano challenges us to wake up our brain, and we cant help but become smarter! This statement should be taken as truth only through self experiment and experience. Learning to play the piano is not an easy thing to do. Left hand and right hand are always doing something different, your right foot is also doing something different, your eyes are taking in a lot of information as are your ears.... Your being is also aware of the atmosphere of the room or hall youre playing in. Its a multi-sensory activity. Your voice will also be involved if youre singing and playing. All of this occurs simultaneously and youre able to do it! If youve every said to yourself I cant play an instrument, Im not musical, Im not talented - all these have nothing to do with you the person. Theyre just your mental projections of yourself based on some measurement of yourself that really has nothing to do with reality. For in truth, anyone can learn how to play an instrument because its a skill to be acquired. No one is born playing a musical instrument. I love the piano because the whole plane of note choices is laid out before me and I can see how the choices of notes form patterns and the combination of notes create patterns in my hands. The art of playing a piece from start to finish is to perceive the progression of patterns in sound-scape that stimulates the imagination and analytical aspects of our selves. In the Simply Music Piano playing-based method that I use to teach piano playing, we bring to the awareness that a piece of music, like in a painting, is made up large and small patterns. The art of the Simply Music Piano method is to train ourselves to become aware of this inherent structure in compositions. The great Russian, Wassily Kandinsky, worked to capture the sound-scape he perceived when playing the violin and cello in his paintings. However, patterns in paintings become locked into a permanent formation, while a piece of music will forever keep changing when played a number of times in succession or by different people. Thats the nature of something that is living in dimensional-space. When the piece comes to an end, what lingers are the subtle feelings that have been invoked that we carry with us forever. 16.01.2022 Why its important for us to return to doing things that are natural. Ive decided to share my insights and understandings about the way we human beings are made that I hope will help you also. In this blog, Im giving a brief insight into two very important milestones that occur in us as children that are directly related to how we are and what we choose to do as parents. https://www.singingkeys.com.au//Back-to-natural-education-

13.01.2022 I urge all my students to download their own free copy of "The Music and Creativity Program" which is an extraordinary self study piano program created by Neil Moore, Founder and CEO of Simply Music. There is nothing like it in the world and it is free! It is designed to be complimentary to the lessons you take each week as the soundtracks will give you "a rich and comprehensive performance-based experience of the pieces that have already learned"- transporting you to a leve...l new world of music learning. A note from Neil: "As you know, we recently released the first course in our new self-study program, Music & Creativity (MAC). One of the most exciting features about the program is that we provide students with world-class, beautifully produced Soundtracks. These allow students, once they have learned any given piece, to have a fully immersive, performance experience as they play any given piece along with its accompanying Soundtrack. In essence, ... students will now have the opportunity to immediately experience playing along with a band, an ensemble, an orchestration and/or a vocalist. Already, we are getting fantastic feedback from ... teachers who have been gauging their students responses to this new, performance-based experience. As promised, I am making all of the Soundtracks from the first module of our Music & Creativity Program (the Foundation Course), available to you and all of your students - at no cost whatsoever! This is a gift, from me to you and all of your students. I know it will have a significant impact on both their musicianship as well as their continued progress. All in all, there are 31 Soundtracks in the Foundation Course. These are now included as a downloadable component of Foundation Level 1 SHMs. You can obtain your free download by registering "in the Music & Creativity Program and watch the first Course in its entirety. There is no cost whatsoever - its entirely free of charge." https://pianoonline.com/

06.01.2022 Heres the first of my Ballads, Songs & Vignettes (post no.2). The piece is called "Miles". Its a vignette about being separated, by distance, from people y...ou love. . One of the things that I love about this brief and simple piece is that there are only 2 notes being played at any time. Its a sweet melody and one of my favorites. . https://youtu.be/Syw-5vAn_r0 See more
