03.01.2022 IT'S TICK SEASON Paralysis ticks are prevalent in many areas around Singleton, including The Barringtons & Lake St Clair as well as coastal areas such as Nelson Bay & Hawks Nest. If your pet is located in or visiting a "tick area", it is very important that you have appropriate tick prevention strategies in place. Symptoms of tick paralysis in your pet usually develop within 3-4 days of a tick attaching and include:... - Wobbly back legs, which can lead to an inability to stand or walk - Breathing difficulties - Gagging or vomiting - A change in your pets bark or meow Without prompt veterinary treatment, paralysis ticks can kill your pet. You should contact us immediately if you suspect that your pet may have tick paralysis, even if you cannot find a tick on them. Daily checks of your pet, especially around the head, ears, neck and legs can be a simple and beneficial way of preventing tick paralysis. We also strongly recommend the use of tick prevention products that can kill and/or repel paralysis ticks from attaching to your pet. For more information about products that we stock to prevent tick paralysis, please contact our friendly staff at SVH on 02/6572 2077 or pop into the practice.
01.01.2022 Congratulations to our recent puppy preschool graduates!
