17.01.2022 PODCAST: While we navigate our way through the challenges of COVID-19, #OrganisationalPsychologist Fel Donatelli shares his insights regarding how HR can better understand and support leaders directly, as well as provide greater leadership themselves on the The Better HR Podcast:
17.01.2022 During the 2014 Ebola crisis in Africa, there was a flurry of media coverage in the U.S. Silver and colleagues found Ebola-related worry was associated with both a history of mental health diagnoses and with increased exposure to media reports about the virus. They also found people who had acute stress responses to the Boston Marathon bombings the year before were more worried about Ebola, despite the very low risk of transmission in the United States. (Thompson, R.R., et. a...l., Clinical Psychological Science, Vol. 5, No. 3, 2017). That suggests people who have experienced more distress during past disasters might be at increased risk of negative psychological outcomes during the current pandemic. When risk information is communicated in a consistent and authoritative way, people learn and benefit from it. But stress and anxiety can be exacerbated by too much media, Silver says. Our message is to stay informed by authoritative sources, but to be mindful of the amount of time you're immersed in the news.

16.01.2022 A survey of 50 companies across countries and industries reveals business leaders are hard at work adapting to the COVID threat. In the second half of May 2020, Harvard Business School conducted 56 interviews with businesses across the globe to understand changes in safety and managerial practices in the COVID-19 era. The interviews were conducted in collaboration with the Italian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises Confapi, and the HBS Research Centres located in China, India, Israel, California, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, and Latin and South America. Confapi and the Centres used their local knowledge to select companies that could serve as an example of resilience for other businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs). What are your thoughts on their key learnings?

11.01.2022 "We can look at #ArtificialIntelligence from two vastly different perspectives. Firstly, we can see it as a highly beneficial booster of things like talent management systems. Secondly, we can be alarmed by warnings, from people like Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and Sam Harris, of so-called unaligned AI as the most immediate amongst existential threats to humanity." Psychologist and SIOPA Board Member Ralph Monley explores the role of AI in our future in a members-only article:
