14.01.2022 Update, Sept 13, 2016 Thanks everyone for your responses to these Qs about bus services in the Dandenongs and Outer East. This post went (almost) viral! It was... viewed by 21, 570 people, shared over 150 times although as it was posted to other sites it has been hard to keep track and has approximately 300 comments both on this page and various others. Clearly there is a need for improved services. We now have very specific advice from a wide array of bus users to incorporate into a report about what needs to be fixed. We have already spoken to James Merlino MP and Samantha Dunn MP about the tentative findings of this survey and will be sending them, and other State MPs, the report once that is finalised. What to next? The next steps are not confirmed as yet but are likely to follow something like: 1. We finish the draft document (we are a bit more than halfway through collating all your many, many comments). (Real names and facebook names will be removed to protect anonymity of you all but we will refer MPs and anyone interested in the document to this post to see that the comments are from real people experiencing significant issues with the bus services in our areas). 2. By the end of this month (September) we will aim to have a full draft out and posted to this page. We will seek all your feedback on that and make any corrections and additions. 3. After that we will send the report to Public Transport Victoria, State MPs and other public transport user groups who might also be interested, including Public Transport Not Traffic (PTNT) and we will be seeking a meeting with each to ascertain their reception of the document. 4. The final report will be sent to all relevant State MPs. Again we will be seeking appointments to talk through the reception of the document. 5. We will be taking the document to relevant Local Councils too to ask them to support us in our lobbying of the State government to improve services. We welcome your feedback on the process too! Thanks everyone for all your input and it is not too late to add new insights from others so please share this post. Thankyou. ------------- Original Post: Published August 11, 2016: We are looking for feedback on specific bus routes in the Outer East. What would a better service look like and what would it enable you to do that you can't do now? Do you or a friend or family member catch the bus in one of these suburbs? Do you have a business or offer a service that would benefit from having a better bus service pass nearby? If so, we'd love to hear from you and please share with anyone who you think might be interested. If you have ideas about how services on particular routes could be improved please comment below or personal message us. If you think your area is lacking the services it needs please comment and give enough detail about location and timing for us to include in a submission to the State government and Public Transport Victoria (egs, timing of bus arrival to meet other bus and train connections, frequency of buses on routes, route itself, ideas for improving the experience of catching a bus, too few or too many people on service, amalgamating routes, information about how particular areas, schools etc not adequately serviced with buses). Hit us with your ideas and pet peeves and positives about our bus services in the Dandenongs and Outer East! PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!
