24.01.2022 Community Facilities Precinct (Peter Crosby Common) lives to see another day! Yesterday was an education! Attending a council Ordinary Meeting was an eyeopener and although I already knew it superficially I gained a deeper realisation of how any decision before a council OM (ordinary meeting) that may only impact a single division, is in the hands of just 5 other councillors because if less than 5 other councillors are in agreement your councillor, it’s all over, good, bad... or otherwise!. 12.01.2022 Surely there’s been enough fires. Wouldn't it be amazing if Brisbane Riverfire was cancelled for 2019 and the astronomical amount of money that is wasted on fireworks donated to rural communities that are struggling to survive? With the kick Mother Nature has dished out to regional and rural Queensland since the beginning of the year, I believe there is greater need in the state than a night of extravagant fireworks. It really serves no purpose apart from entertaining city dw...ellers. Given the very real struggles communities are having, such as the floods earlier this year in the north, Clifton with no fuel in town, whole towns like Stanthorpe and Warwick almost without water, and the most horrific bushfire season this state has ever seen, there are more worthy causes than an evening of fireworks. #ruralcommunitiesfirst #cancelriverfire2019 #brisbaneriverfire2019 Poll will run for 7 days. This question has been posed by one of our community members (link below) and we are keen to see what the community thinks in a poll format! https://www.facebook.com/groups/SippyDownsCommunityConnect/permalink/2696113977108202/
