20.01.2022 The 2020 lockdown has taught us some important lessons In Melbourne, we have been in lockdown since March and will not end until later in October. It tough on a lot of people and businesses. But let's look at the positive side: Working from home will be the new normal which does lead to less commute which equals more spare time to spend doing something you love.... Technology has been an amazing way for us all to stay together But it’s also important to switch off. Take a break and go for a walk. Stretch it out. Read a book. Businesses are seeing the importance of shifting to a digital environment and digital way of working. If you need help with this, ask me how! Number 2 is especially important to me. I have family and friends overseas, so I love staying connected via technology. But it also gives you the urge to always reply immediately and stay on standby (even for clients). Even though my name is Siri, and I am your virtual assistant ready to help, I also need to switch off. I have watched the Netflix doco @TheSocialDilemma (if you haven't seen it, go watch it now!) and decided to turn off my notifications after that. I also worked less on the weekend and took the time to be in the present moment and play with my son. The phone and emails can wait. Which lessons have you learnt this year? 17.01.2022 Ever wondered how you can get a video inside a phone (or computer)? Let me show you in this tutorial It's super easy and can be done in Canva. If you haven't worked with Canva yet, this is an online design tool that is pretty foolproof to use for all your graphics. Step 1: Click "Select a Design" and fill in custom dimensions of 1080x1350 px (which is optimal for Instagram Posts), or select any other preset dimension. ... Step 2: Add a square element to your artboard. This will be your background. You can change the colour if you like. Step 3: Search for "Phone" in "Elements". Select one of the first phones with the cloud & hill background. This is a drag & drop template. Step 4: Now upload your video, or go to the "Uploads" and select the "Video" tab to drag & drop a previous video into the phone's background. It will automatically size it to fit the screen. (If you do need to change it, click on the video and select "Crop" in the menu next to the colours) Step 5: Add any text or elements if you like! Tip: If you want to resize this for repurposing, you can simply hit "Resize" in the top left menu and select a different artboard size. Voilà! It can be done in under 5 minutes (ok, you have to be a bit handy. But trust me, you will learn this quickly!) Do you have any other Canva or design tutorials you'd like to see? Let me know!

Claim your business on Google By creating a Google My Business account you can achieve top search position and add tons of info for your potential customer to access. Google My Business is the biggest driver of local SEO success!... This is by far the easiest way to stand out on Google. And best of all: it's completely FREE! Google My Business uses many factors to determine rankings for businesses. The three most important ones are: 1| Relevance: this determines how well your business fits the search intent of the customer. Be super clear and focus on great keywords. 2| Distance: you can't rank for a local search in Flemington if your cafe is located in Belgrave. To improve this ranking it's important to create local-oriented content around your business on your website. 3| Prominence: this is all about the activity around your listing, eg. the number of reviews, events, local content... Keep your listing up-to-date with photos and reviews and align your listing with your website. Go and claim your business on Google today and verify it via the code you'll receive in the mail (actually postage mail, not email). This might take a while (thanks COVID!).
