23.01.2022 It really is instant turf! After the team turned over the soil last week, we leveled and layed this small patch of Lilydale Instant Turf in little over an hour. Very satisfying work! And should make ins lot safer for the resident to walk though to her back yard. @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
18.01.2022 I moss say, this is really cool. @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
17.01.2022 A succulent garden bed I installed at a school today. The plants were unwanted but in great condition and well established. The planting theme around the school is quite formal so I've mirror that with equally spaced planting of the Agave attenuata, interplanted with Aeonium arboreum and Echiveria elegans as an understory. Very happy with the results and love the instant completed look by using the established plants.
15.01.2022 Ficus pumila or Creeping Fig, is a really popular climber. I've seen so much around lately that is out of control! In this job, the neighbour complained that he didn't want it growing into his gutters and roof. I solved the problem by defining the plant into a rectangle on the wall, neightbourn is happy and I think it looks really smart!
15.01.2022 One things guaranteed about spring, lots of Box need my attention. Depending on the size of the Box, I like to do it manually, with a nice sharp sheers. Here's some I've tended to today. A much cleaner look for these formal hedges.
15.01.2022 Various flowering plants including some pericallis, cyclamen and hellebores spp. So bright and colourful @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
13.01.2022 A small front garden I did in Fitzroy recently. South facing but some areas get afternoon sun which some areas are fully shaded so plant choice was challenging. We went for a tropical style garden and planted two medium sized palms which will provide some further shade from the afternoon sun to the more shade loving plants underneath. They need to grow up fast though!
12.01.2022 Unfortunately the Andrews's Government correct decision to close non-essential businesses has meant that Sir Plantsalot needs to close for the next 6 weeks. This isn't an easy time for anyone. I am lucky enough to have some work in essential services so I'll get through this. I'll be using this time to do some important business development work. I'll continue to post pretty pictures to help make your newsfeed a little brigjter. We'll get through this.... Stay strong everyone. Julyan
09.01.2022 Some beautiful pictures of flowering ornamental fruit trees I've seen about in the last week. Such a great time of year!
09.01.2022 Playing with terrariums today. Pretty happy with this one I made for myself. Such a great vessel!
09.01.2022 Winter is a great time to prune ornamental fruit trees as they are dormant and you can really see what you are doing. Ornamental varieties are grown for their aesthetics rather than fruit production however they still need regular pruning to maximise flower production, maintain their habit, be it weeping or otherwise and promote strong health. Here are some Weeping Cherry Trees which had not been pruned for a number of year and required a hard formative prune. ... This was done to remove deadwood and crossing branches and open up the interior of the trees, allowing more airflow which will reduce the risk of fungal infections. @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
09.01.2022 "Poppies, Poppies will put them to sleep" - Wicked Witch of the West. Not poppy's from the Papaveraceae family but the Poppy Anemone. Flowering flower around the place at the moment, so delicate and so colourful. @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
08.01.2022 Small garden bed which was really overgrow, plants smothered and growing on top of each other! Had a nice tropical feel to it so with a little bit of weeding, a tropical garden has been created! @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
06.01.2022 Some beautiful examples of Azalea spp flowering at a school in Brighton currently.
06.01.2022 Anticipation....
04.01.2022 Terrarium I made for a great friend @hairxholman! Hope it's brightening up your house mate X Was so difficult to get my hand into the jug to plant the plants but I got there!
04.01.2022 Dietes grandiflora, love them or hate, you can't argue that they are beautiful in the right setting.
03.01.2022 Acacia missed it, Wattle Trees are flowering at the moment. There are tons of them along the Yarra, make it part of your ISO walk if you can. This is an Acacia Baileyana flowering in a retirement village in Croydon, so pretty! @ Croydon, Victoria, Australia
