19.01.2022 Summer holiday mode... these holidays are flying! Usually I’m full of excitement and hope at the start and then a week in I’m tearing my hair out and thinking about sending my kids off to start a REAAALLLY slow walk back to school six weeks early! But this year has been different. It’s gone so quickly and it’s been easy, relaxed and fun with only minimal ‘kid on kid’ altercations. Maybe it’s just the relief of a horrible year ending. Or maybe my ‘patient mindset’ exercises are finally kicking in Still nowhere near as patient as Nahla here, but I’m working on it! #smallsteps
18.01.2022 MORE Afters and Befores for you - it’s that time of the year, yay!! Seeing the ideas and designs my clients and I have finalised together come to life is the most rewarding part of my ‘work’. Of course, that’s their favourite bit too! This was already a beautiful home but my client wanted a new look and felt that the spaces (& she) were a little confused so we simplified things! ... With a few easy additions, subtractions and re-jigging, my client and her family now have a calm, spacious, relaxing family area to enjoy. 16.01.2022 From ‘MEH’ to magical! This toddler’s room was cute but a bit lacking in personality. With the addition of this amazing terrazzo wallpaper (which is classic enough to see this little one through to her teens - but let’s be honest, she’ll probably ask for at least ten re-dos before then) and some gorgeous, easily changed up play pieces, this room has been given a ton of style! I had a lovely, relaxing birthday yesterday (beach picnic with friends - champagne, cheese, bread, fruit and chocolate cake followed by an afternoon snooze & fireworks! 09.01.2022 AU NATURALE... Wondering what we’re going to see decor wise in 2021? Well, more of the same really... Natural colours, textures and materials, especially raw wood surfaces, stone textures, living plants, ceramics and wicker furniture. As the world slowly emerges from the pandemic chaos, the most expected ‘trend’ of 2021 is to ignore trends, with even more of an emphasis on personalisation of spaces, decorating for YOU and your family, creating that homely, grounded, earthy s...pace and feeling of security we’re all in dire need of right now. Make your home feel like a big warm hug by concentrating on what is valued or sentimental to you, your interests and comforts, not what some designer magazine or store tells you to (keep listening to me though, because I’ve been banging on about this very idea for years)!
04.01.2022 Easy peasy Xmas craft... Cane wreaths @kmartaus Foraged olive sprigs (thanks Aunty) Gum tree branch (from nearby park)... Dried flower sprigs (leftover posey) Fishing line Thread olive sprigs through spaces in wreath, add tiny flower sprigs (or whatever you have on hand, if anything), tie fishing line to each wreath and then tie to branch at desired lengths. Hang with a centre hook or just blu-tac onto wall #xmasdecordone
03.01.2022 An Aussie Coastal Christmas... Prawns and lemon, smoked salmon, cheese and crackers, fly and mozzie whackers. Too much sun, sand on bums. Christmas cheer, bubbly, beer. Blazing heat, water fight cheats. Pavlova, food coma. Sneaky snooze, rellies on the move. Thanks for the pressies and glazed ham, let’s do it all again.... Next year. It’s the 1st of December.
