23.01.2022 What's your favourite sign of love and respect from your dog? Mine is "I love you don't stop"

23.01.2022 Remember to groom and care for the rest of the paw. This includes: -Trimming the fur long haired breeds -Inspect the paws for grass seeds -Checking paw pads for injury and cracking and general health -Checking the nail bed for swelling or infection... -Notice if your dog licks a certain area all the time, is it a hotspot? Hotspots may help you detect injury or irritation. Problems from ignoring these can cause your dog to slip and injure their muscles and develop infections and sores and limping and hopping due to pain. Not only does maintenance do wonders for your dog’s health and gait, it shows that you love them!

23.01.2022 Claw function in the dog Why the goat? They don’t have claws. You will see as you read about claw function....The more you know about claws the more you may remember to check them regularly A dog uses it’s claws to grip into the ground and the claws let the brain know the incline of the ground. A dog will know when it's on a hill from the contact of the claws and the pressure it has on its paws. This causes the dog to naturally shift its body forward to remain upright. Long... claws create a ‘fake’ hill and in turn makes the hind end pull back so they don’t fall on their face. This causes an unnatural stance like a goat on a mountain top and causes all sorts of overuse in the shoulders and hips and curvature of the back. Claws also create extra traction and grip onto slippery floors.. Most houses these days have tiles and wooden floors so the paws have extra work to do. The claws naturally get worn down during exercise on a variety of surfaces and a good amount of exercise.. They are also used for digging and scratching. If your dog does this regularly their claws could be worn down already but check if they are worn down evenly. See more

20.01.2022 What can a dog's nails tell your dog’s body work therapist? They tell a story of your dog's body and where they could be holding pain. The angle of wear on the nails indicates the history of the way your dog walks before your consultation. Some signs include: Wear on the top of nail = Dragging of toes... Angled nails = walking on an angle due to pain, injury or compensation Uneven claws = Misalignment of shoulders and hips and pain in the limbs and paws Split nails = landing paws at angle, other health issues These signs along with a hands on assessment helps me to investigate whether their pain comes from the paws, legs, hips and shoulders Message or call me today if you are concerned about your dog's posture or limp to see if I can help your dog feel and move better.

20.01.2022 Snuffle time = treat time! Its raining, so I'm giving the kids some indoor activities. Sniffing out treats gives them a problem solving activity, mental stimulation, relaxes mind and body by using natural behaviours. #doggames #petsitterbrisbane #dogwalkerbrisbane #dogmassage #caninebowentherapy #caninehealth #snufflemat #sniff #anxiousdogs #relaxdog #enrichmentfordogs

06.01.2022 Queen Bea in between bouts of relaxation and energy after and during a Bowen session. Got a anxious or dog that wont slow down? Some dogs are too energetic for a whole body massage but Bowen can work more effectively on the high energy dogs with its short moves and breaks. The dogs slow down when they start listening to their bodies.... Got zoom? Contact me to for a discussion of how your dog's body is coping with their lifestyle and how I can help. Are they struggling and you haven't noticed? #bowentherapy #dogmassage #caninebowentherapy#caninemyotherapy #dogmassage #mobility #dogsofinstagram #dogs #dogmobilty #petwellbeing #petrehab #petrecovery #dogenrichment #doggames #dogwalkerbrisbane #petsitter #petvisits #sitstayhealbowen #happydog #happypet #pets #dogbowenbrisbane #dogmassagebrisbane #dogswitharthritis #dogagility #flyballdogs #brisbanedogs #sunshinecoastdogs #holisticpet

06.01.2022 Making new friends with Shadow @sandgatevillagemarket Pop by to with your dog to check if they have any sore tender spots that could a massage

03.01.2022 This dog would be in a lot of pain and has a higher chance of developing problems in its paws and nail bed such as infections and muscle and joint pain. A dog with these nails are prone to splitting and breaking and getting caught in clothes, fences and other tangly things. Long claws get pressed into the nail bed causing pain in the paws and toes start rolling to the side. Due to this pain the dog will walk further back on its feet, change its pronation and this causes all t...he other structures in the legs, shoulder and hips to overcompensate as you dog retrains itself to walk without paw pain. The muscles won’t be moving the natural way and over many days your dog will develop overused and sore muscles and tendons. Just like when you wear bad fitting shoes. This misalignment of your dog's posture can lead to joint pain and inflammation such as arthritis. Once you have the nails trimmed your vet can diagnose any further issues like arthritis. A canine moytherapist or Bowen therapist can help release your dog’s muscle and fascia pain to correct it’s posture. Have you seen a dog with claws like this? See more
