25.01.2022 From the fantastic guys at Evidence Based Memes. Another truth bomb If someone tells you to cut out all activity then they are only doing you more harm. Our weakened structures need strength. If something isn't working now, change it for later! ... Never stop moving, dont let that box get harder to break! I love setting goals and seeing people get back to what they did before, but that doesnt happen by removing all activity, its about altering that activity to suit. So lets workout together!
23.01.2022 In these unforeseeable and ever changing times public interactions and "essential" outings have been limited more than ever before. At this stage no one can tell for how long. That's why I am providing an interim solution for those who may still be requiring Physiotherapy in the comfort of your own home. Technology has allowed face-to-face interaction in the healthcare sector since the early 2000's and with the help of things like Skype is allowing health care professionals... to continue care from hundreds of kilometers away! Appointments will include: Full interview for subjective to help diagnosis. Outcome measures to keep track of your progress. Home program sent to you via email for personal use with in depth diagrams and instruction. Demonstration of self exercise and management of injuries. Everything performed in the comfort of your own home! If this sounds like something you/ or someone else would like to take advantage of message the page or email [email protected] to organize an appointment! Stay safe!
22.01.2022 Chronic Low Back Pain My goodness how the medical system has terrified the public into thinking it is one of the most disabling conditions in the world. Well, that's because it is. But not by a totally physical standpoint. ... Have you ever gotten a scan on your wrist because you fell on it, or you hurt it and needed it to be clear of fractures only to have it come back with nothing? First thought "good nothing serious" second thought "its probably just bruised". Now, have you ever hurt your back? Ever gone to get a scan to make sure you haven't broken anything and it comes back with Degeneration level L3/4 Automatically, you've stopped. It's bad news. What do I do, I have degeneration in my discs. Answer: You don't need to do anything, except look after yourself. We get old, our skin gets wrinkly, so do our joints and vertebrae. Don't hold onto words on a piece of paper. Because if you do, you over protect, you stop good movement and often make things worse! Have a chat if you feel you're being restricted due to what you've been told. You might be surprised how much is actually mind over matter
19.01.2022 "Five, 10, and 15 minutes of self-induced multi-bar massage rolling may have some positive effects on balance performance, but does not appear to affect anaerobic power and anaerobic and aerobic capacity in any way that would have an impact on athletic performance". - The effects of self-induced multi-bar massage rolling on physical performance in collegiate level athletes - Milos Popovic, University of Stavanger, Norway, 2019 One thing I'm always telling my patients is t...hat a massage or trigger point therapy is pretty much sending a neurological signal to the brain and back to the muscle telling it to "wake up" allowing the muscle to activate like it should! Therapists need to stop telling patients we are changing the "structure" of a muscle or lengthening a muscle just by rubbing it #physio #physiotherapy #physiotherapist #sportsphysio #gymphysio #gym #lift #pewdiepie #thatsafact #sportsphysiotherapist #sixfivephysio See more
19.01.2022 Oh boy I've been quiet. But I'm still running that meme train while spreading straight #facts. You know I'm all for a quick fix now and then, but if something isn't getting better then something needs to change. ... Evidence shows short term results to manual therapy vs exercise and behaviour management. So sure, massage now and then, but if you arent doing anything in between or something to manage a dysfunction or weakness then its just like putting a blanket over a mess. You still have to deal with it. #facts #physio #sixfivephysio #rehab #pain #fixme #gym #gymtime See more

16.01.2022 What a lovely home, it would sure be a shame if someone broke into it and made you setup a whole new security system! But what's the point of this (very poorly edited) representation? It's representing your body's perception of pain after a serious injury or trauma. ... Easily put, your body is your home and once you have an injury your body sends signals to the brain to tell you you're either in danger or damaged. But sometimes your body gets a bit carried away, and starts putting up alarms, security and defenses that may actually cause increased perceptions of pain! Let's say you broke a bone for the first time and it's all healed with no issue, but your body didn't quite know how to respond, now you have this HUGE security system. Now instead of breaking a bone your partner pinches around the area you broke and you state 10/10 pain - that's your security system, and it can be changed. If you or someone you know is suffering from chronic pain and think physio is worth a shot send a message through the page and we can try to take control of your pain!

10.01.2022 TL;DR: I'm raising funds again for Movember and this year ANY consultations through SixFive Physiotherapy will donate $20 - no matter what it is! (info below). It's Movember time again and that means that whatever facial hair I can muster is gathering on my top lip for men's health awareness. But, this isn't without a cause. The Movember Foundation is the leading charity changing the face of men's health, something that myself and family hold very dearly, and this year I wou...ld like to emphasize the first four letters - MOVE. Obesity and obesity related illness and deaths are on the rise due to inactivity in this country. This can lead to poorer outcomes and options for life saving treatments, poorer mental health outlooks, and overall reduced quality of life. My goal as a physiotherapist is to show that MOvement is the best therapy, and this year I will be looking to also better my own self with every dollar matched with either push ups, pullups, situps or squats! Together we can make a difference for men's health in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Help me stop men dying too young. https://mobro.co/marcussinclair?mc=26
08.01.2022 "Doc says I've torn my rotator cuff". Probably the most destructive thing your doctor can tell you about shoulder pain. The 'rotator cuff' is actually a collection of muscles with all work together to perform movements of the humerus on the scapular (arm on the shoulder blade). If you have a tear in one it's not game over and, as evidence shows with minor tears, will heal over time.... If you need help with shoulder pain just message the page or go ahead an book an appointment!
04.01.2022 10th of October is World Mental Health Day. Let us take this day not to just remind us to ask friends and family of they are okay, but to spend sometime researching signs of mental health conditions. Mental health is not just a focus on anxieties and depression but what may be affecting someone's overall well-being. This may be an underlying condition such as psychotic disorders (such as schizophrenia), mood disorders (bipolar), eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorde...rs, post-traumatic stress disorder and possible substance abuse. Take some time to learn the signs and symptoms, because someone you care about may be living in silence. If you or someone you know needs help, there are helpful resources in this link: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/mental-health-helplines
04.01.2022 Don't get stuck in the past! Science is always finding ways to prove and disprove itself through research and forward thinking! If you've been doing the same thing for weeks/months/years and not seeing improvements then it's time for a change ... Physiotherapists should always be keeping up to date with new treatment evidence and techniques which only benefits you If you, or someone you know, might be held back because of something they were told ten years ago, then it might be time to speak to a Physiotherapist about updates in evidence and how it can change perceptions of your condition.
03.01.2022 How good are these guys! It's not uncommon for Japan to be active into their later years with the average farmers age being 70! Just because we reach a certain age doesn't mean your expiration date is reached and you have to sit on the couch forever! ... Stay active and stay happy!
02.01.2022 Appointments avalible Check the page to contact Awesome summary of a systematic review by Jeanfavre et al (2018) from Lenny Macrina on Instagram on the importance of conservative management for full thickness rotator cuff tears! ... If you've been diagnosed with a full thickness tear and been told by your GP "you need to have an operation", than maybe you need to have a chat to your friendly Physiotherapist Put it this way - 6 months of conservative management (no surgery) vs. 6 - 12 months of recovery, with rehab, increased pain and reduced function. I know which one I would choose
