17.01.2022 Congratulations to the PDHPE Faculty and a very successful Health and Physical Education Day which was held last Wednesday. During the day, the ends of periods were marked by songs from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s which encouraged active movement between lessons, moving to the beat. All students wore their sports uniform and each Year Group had a period of games and physical activity. Fresh fruit was distributed to students during the day. It was a really great day!
17.01.2022 Last week SJC -v-Dubbo Christian School and Wellington High in their two 20/20 matches in the Lisa Keightly Cup, and were victorious in both. They won 2/114 and 6/112 respectively. Isabella was the best of the batters. Well done girls!
16.01.2022 Last week, Year 11 students came together at Lazy River Estate to commence their student leadership journeys. Students were guided through a range of activities to deepen their understanding of Servant Leadership, learn some of the theory behind various leadership models, and connect their leadership roles to the College Mission. We can't wait to help them establish and realise their goals as servant leaders. The day concluded with students and staff sharing a delicious dinner together. Thank you to all students for their participation, to the staff who attended the day and to Lazy River Estate for hosting.

14.01.2022 Year 8 Technology enjoyed their Mexican Fiesta Practical where they designed and prepared a food item suitable for a Mexican Food Truck menu.
14.01.2022 Last week a group of SJC staff spent 2 days in training for The Rite Journey Program. The transformative program will be rolled out to all Year 9 students from the commencement of 2021 and become the cornerstone for personal formation of our young people during Stage 5.

12.01.2022 Year 7 Tech.4 worked in small groups to develop a pasta recipe and cook and present it in class. The results were amazing - such skill and talent! Isaac was our celebrity Masterchef judge keeping a close eye on proceedings.
11.01.2022 A Graduation lunch was held last Friday for the 2020 Step Up Program students. The boys were presented with a certificate and cap. They had raised funds for the Orana Support Services with a special focus on the Women’s Refuge in Dubbo. Mr Kirk Watts, Mr David Heywood and Mr Kyper Yap have been developing the boys into caring, empathetic and respectful young men of the future.
11.01.2022 Year 9 Food Technology students have just completed learning about food product development. Students created a healthy biscuit suitable to be sold at a primary school canteen. Over 3 weeks students taste tested and evaluated the flavour, texture, aroma and appearance of their biscuit.
11.01.2022 Year 9 Food technology students created their own version of Cold Rock ice-cream for their last practical of the year.
10.01.2022 Today, Year 12 will celebrate their Graduation Dinner at the Regional Convention Centre commencing at 7pm. The doors will be open at 6.30. All attendees need to have their names recorded in the foyer. We are all looking forward to the evening and are so excited that parents and family can share such a milestone as Graduation with their sons and daughters. The Cherry Blossom theme will be highlighted throughout the decorations.
09.01.2022 The Year 12 Graduation Dinner was held last Friday evening at the DRTCC. The evening was a wonderful success, honouring and celebrating the HSC Class of 2020.
09.01.2022 Last week was kindness week. SJC students celebrated their teachers by gifting cards and native flowers to say thanks and show their appreciation.
08.01.2022 Year 11 students commenced their final examinations for the Preliminary HSC Courses this week. The examinations will be held for 2 weeks over Weeks 8 and 9. This will be an opportunity for Year 11 students to consolidate some examination techniques such as timing in an examination and question interpretation in preparation for the HSC. We wish all students every success for these examinations.
08.01.2022 This week the Finals of the Sam Fraser Cup are being played between the four SJC Houses. On Monday Lennon played McAuley and Lennon was successful with a score of 8 to 2. Well done Lennon.
07.01.2022 Year 9 Textiles students have just completed their Japanese inspired Kimonos. They have experimented with a range of decorative techniques including shibopri dyeing, embroidery, beading, applique and patchwork. They look fantastic!
07.01.2022 Last Friday Year 7 attended an assembly in which the Coordinator, Mr Jamie Gay, officially handed over the care of Year 7 to Ms Kim Allen who will support them for the remainder of 2020, and on to Year 11. Ms Allen has already been getting to know the Year 7 students over the course of the Year and is very excited to be now working with them.

05.01.2022 Mrs Patricia Strahorn’s Year 8 Elective class is dedicated to Japanese culture for Term 4. The class enjoyed a lesson of Shibori making (an intricate form of tie dying). Students used dyes, paper, strings and elastic bands to create colourful patterns on their project.

04.01.2022 Last week our Student Athletes Program (SAP) session focused on the importance of good nutrition, hydration and sleep. Mr Haycock conducted the session with information from the Penrith Panthers. Students are keeping a record of short term goals, long term goals, upcoming events and competitions, assessment schedules (particularly important for our senior students), injuries and a few dot points about the focus of each session.

02.01.2022 St Johns College attended the Country Rugby League Tag Gala Day on Thursday 12th November. We had three teams represent the school with very positive results. The under 14’s Team Gold came away undefeated on the day.. The under 14’s Team Maroon had 2 wins and a draw. The senior team had one win, one loss and a draw.. All of the girls represented their school with true sportsmanship and respect for their opponents and the game. Thankyou to Fletcher and Lachlan for refereeing on the day. Thank you to Miss McWhirter, Mr Haycock and Mr Bourke for coaching the girls on the day
02.01.2022 During Tuesday evening’s Annual Badge Ceremony the 2021 College Captains, Vice Captains, SRC Captains, SRC Vice Captains, Ministry Captains, House Captains and Prefects all received their Badges of Office. We joined with their parents to celebrate together the presentation of badges and recognition of the responsibilities of leadership that these students will need to demonstrate in their roles.
02.01.2022 Class 7M held a cake stall this week to raise money for the Yr 12 charity, LeaderLife. Congratulations on raising $263.90. Year 8 student Kyle was the winner of the Gingerbread House, which was created by Mrs Cant.

01.01.2022 Year 10 Textiles Technology students completed their recycled denim article. Students deconstructed denim jeans to create an article of their own design. Decorative features were also included such as hand embroidery, applique, fabric painting and beading.
