23.01.2022 Images of the Lunchtime Installations and Concert from ARTSTOBER Halloween Spectacular 2020. Many thanks to our visting Musician, Kane Dennelly from 19 -Twenty, (accompanied on a few tracks by his brother - our very own Mr Dennelly), and our Artists in Residence Iain and Khristina Whittaker. It has been an enriching and rewarding experience for all involved.

20.01.2022 Last week our Yr 7 students took part in a mini Cultural Day. Students rotated through different activities based on the different languages we offer Yr 7 students to enhance their understanding of each of these cultures. To celebrate the Italian culture students spent time playing Bocce, 'Dia De Los Muertos' (The Day of the Dead) was looked at as part of our Spanish activities with students decorating their own masks and also making some sweet Spanish biscuits. As part of our Japanese activities we were fortunate to have Andrew and David from the Wollongong Kendo Club join us to take students through an orientation session of Kendo (a Japanese martial art that uses bamboo swords). Well done to all the students for your engagement in the day and to our wonderful Language teachers for organising such experience.

15.01.2022 Even a Global Pandemic and a move to remote learning could not stop our HSC TAS students from producing their best in Industrial Technology. A massive time commitment from all of our students and their teacher Mr Milburn. Congratulations to everyone involved ........ we are proud of you.

09.01.2022 Every Tuesday at Joey's we are going to have Trash Free Tuesday for your chance to receive an Environmental Merit. At the end of every term, student names will go into a draw to win a prize. You simply need to show your HR teacher your lunch box to be awarded a Merit. See you tomorrow with a trash-free lunch!

09.01.2022 Despite some of the restrictions, we celebrated R U Ok Day The Joeys Way! We started the day with a whole school Zoom assembly online and students participated in the spirit of the day with a Gratitude activity and lots of colour and friendliness! Yellow was definitely the colour for the day.

08.01.2022 Year 10 Marine class are proud of their work on the unit, The History of Surfing, Surfboard Design and Surf Art. Some great designs including Nemo and also a Colonel Sanders inspired surfboard (maybe a nod to the early 70s Coolite styrofoam boards that came free with a 13 piece bucket of chicken)

05.01.2022 The school theme for Science Week 2020 was Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans. There was a lot of learning fun for all with a focus on the ocean as well as other activities such as making ice-cream fun with Liquid Nitrogen, Marshmallow Towers Challenge, Kahoots, PVC Canons and Holograms, How Slow Can you Go Challenge, Sherbet experiments, bridge-building, Stile Escape Room as well as prizes for Science Nerds and our annual "Whats In the Box" brain bender challenge created by the bent brain of Mr Lemmon.... whew.... There may also have been some random explosions and slightly-too-much (harmless) smoke around the school area. Science. It's the best. Thanks to the best Science Faculty staff this side of the Milky Way and all our students for their participation in all the activities. Enjoy your weekend.

05.01.2022 This weeks Joeys News - Episode 2: Bianca & Jayden present this weeks episode introducing our roaming reporter Jordan Tasevski from Year 7 with a segment on the Maths Tutoring program, and also Forecast with Assessment man Sam (with Sam and Sam), and of course wishing our dear Year 12 students the best of luck with their exams and some Meme Day highlights... Enjoy. Special thanks to Mr Dennelly for the organisation of the behind-the-scenes and Mr Callum Elliss for the editing once again. We hope you enjoy!

03.01.2022 Year 12s had a chance to dress up in their golf gear and challenge some of our staff to the new and challenging "Frisbee Golf" today. With the students rapidly approaching the end of their schooling journey with us, it was a great opportunity for our Year 12s to unwind a little and just have a chat with their teachers as they've missed out on many other "rituals" this year due to COVID. Thanks again to Calderwood Valley for their support of RUOK? Day activities at our school.

03.01.2022 Two of our former students from St Joseph's are Officers of the Bridge, so they can now command a vessel when the commander is not on watch. Well done and congratulations on your journeys so far: ASLT Alexandra Westlake (grad 2012) and ASLT Heuan Armstrong (grad 2014) graduated ss Maritime Warfare Officers at HMAS Watson yesterday.

03.01.2022 Mr Brown and Mr Lewis have decided to brave a mullet for the next few weeks to raise money for the Black Dog Institute to assist in programs for Mental Health Today, Year 12 student barbers (thanks to PJ and Athan) helped Mr Brown and Mr Lewis achieve their mullet hair special requests. If you would like to donate to their cause please see link below or scan the QR code to be redirected to the donation page. https://www.teamblackdog.org.au//da/mulletsformentalhealth

02.01.2022 Artstober 2020 - In the spirit of Halloween and prior to all Saints day this Multi-Disciplinary project with resident artists Iain and Khristina Whittaker, explores ideas of a spiritual visitation from colonial times. Elaborate costumes, mapping projection, sound and film form the basis of the installation. Spirit figures as ghostly portraits dissolve into embers and step into the current realm, bringing gifts of seeds and stewardship for the earth to our world. Congratulations to all the students and staff involved in the creation of this small mesmerising piece https://youtu.be/Lug99K7jkvk
