25.01.2022 A before and after Video of Lea and Gus. Lea has been doing some amazing work and has come a long way on her journey with Gus. But they hit a stalemate and things were getting a little out of control. He was strong, falling through the shoulders, behind the bit, not forward moving, unhappy to use his back and had completely lost his confidence to jump. So Gus came and spent a week with me. I made some minor gear changes and some changes to his shoeing, then the rest of the w...ork was corrective and confidence building. I loved my time with Gus, and so often the problems that mount up are just minor issues. I like to look at each individual aspect of the whole picture and decipher what could be causing a horse to behave in the manner they are.

23.01.2022 In my journey of training horses I always have moments where I go 'this is that moment I do this for' I want to share with you one of those moments. I rocked up with a bit of gear to try on a young little filly we are doing a slow break in with. I had a spray bottle, a bit and a lunging cavesson. I thought for sure the session would only entail getting this little lady introduced and settled in the new gear. As a bit of a back ground without making a novel out of this post,... when I started working with Poppy she was head shy and quite flighty. I have only had a handful of sessions with her, so I can applaud her owners for following the instructions and work programs laid out for her, allowing Poppy to start using her thinking brain before the flight brain. So I introduced her to the spray bottle, that was super uneventful, which was the theme for the rest of the session. I bridled her with the bit, let her have a fiddle and again she just wasn't fazed. So on with the cavesson and a lunge to see how she would respond. Normally that would be a full session, I never EVER push things too far. I thought since this has been all too boring we would try a little weight across her back. Again she just was so trusting that we were not going to do anything to hurt her and took it all in her stride. So over the leg went of her owner and as you can see she was a little 'oh hello, but yeah that's ok'. These are the moments I live for, when a young girl can ride her very own horse for the first time. The smile on her face says everything. NB: this does not mean this little one will be started under saddle anytime soon, she still has a lot of training before she is actually ridden.

20.01.2022 How adorable is our newest student Kitana. We talked about each bit of gear as we saddled our little Arnie, she enthusiastically repeated everything back to me so cute She was such a little go-er keeping Arnie and myself on our toes asking to 'go again' whilst learning to rise trot. Welcome Miss Kitana, can't wait to see you again next week.

19.01.2022 IMPORTANT REMINDER! As many of you have noticed I have become super busy, which is great, and most of it has come from recommendations from my existing clients. So thank you, you guys are awesome. Unfortunately I am going to have to say the following and be a little stricter on the usual laid back attitude. ... Firstly, whilst I understand life can throw curve balls, I have had a rise in last minute cancellations for lessons. For now I am not going to put a time restraint on notice of cancellations, but please try your best to give me as much notice as possible. Secondly, for those who I travel to, please be ready by your allotted time. This means on your horse and warmed up. For those who bring their horse to me, get here early enough to be on your horse and warmed up also. For those who use my schooling horses, it is your responsibility to catch the horse, groom it adequately and saddle up, as well as wash or groom down after your lesson and put all gear back where it belongs. (An exception here is those still learning to do these things) Please understand I am not upset at anyone, no one is in trouble (yet ) it is important now more than ever, I only have so many hours in the day, I also have to pay daycare costs and babysitters to provide these services, as well as working out logistics of being where I need to be by specific times. And every time I have a cancellation with no warning or I run late due to clients not being ready it costs me dearly.

14.01.2022 Took Miss Holly out for a hack on the wonderful Mimzy. Taking the opportunity to bring Gretel back into work and had her first hack out as well. We have finally started putting together some cross country jumps, which Holly got to have her first go on. I also had a sneaky pop over a couple of fences on Gretel. Gretel, Mim and Holly all did awesome.
