22.01.2022 Today we are at #Epping conducting a pre-settlement inspection for our client who purchased an apartment off the plan. Our job is to ensure that the quality and workmanship of the finished apartment is up to standard before the client settles! The builder then gets 2 weeks to fix any outstanding issues at which point we come back and sign off on the property for handover. Check the builder’s license number is valid at the NSW Fair Trading website (https://lnkd.in/gzAUDGv). 2. Compare the name and number on the contractor license and check if it matches the one on the contract and/or the individual’s ID documents. 3. Check if the license covers the type of work represented by the contractor? (e.g residential under $20k or over $20k) 4. Check if the builder is insured and registered. As a minimum, they should have Public Liability Insurance, Workers compensation, and Home Warranty Insurance (project-specific ). 5. Get at least three quotes from different builders, and remember that if prices do vary, it is not always wise to go with the cheapest option. 6.
