19.01.2022 Have you declared all of your business income? Remember a registered tax agent or BAS agent can help with your tax needs. Some questions you may be asked by us or that you need to ask yourself before lodging your tax return are:... Did you receive any cash payments? Did you earn income through coupons, vouchers or gift cards? Did you receive income from other activities such as rent from business assets? Did you receive bank interest or money from other investments? Did you receive directors fees, dividends or franking credits? Did you deposit any income into a mortgage or private bank account? Did you have other accounts that business income is paid into, like PayPal? Did you sell or transfer any business assets? It is also very important to retain all documentation of the above. Please feel free to contact us should you need more information or if you have any questions.

If you would prefer to keep using the SBSC as your clearing house you will still be able to, the link below is from the ATO explaining how to achieve this. If you are still confused I can help explain this :-) https://www.ato.gov.au//New-look-SBSCH-is-here-in-Februa/

13.01.2022 The silly season is rolling around fast. Are you prepared for your Christmas party or Client and Staff Gifts? Do you know what you can and cant claim? The main 3 questions we are asked are:... 1. Where do I hold my Christmas party? At work or at a nice restaurant? 2. Do I invite staff, their partners and their family? 3. What gift should I give? Over the next 3 days we will answer these questions for you. All of these questions are valid and when it comes to business cash flow, GST implications and tax the ATO has put its stamp on them. There is a tax called Fringe Benefits Tax which comes into play when a staff member is perceived as benefiting from an expense an employer pays for them. When it comes to Christmas parties if costs are kept to below $300 per person these are known as minor benefits. 1. WHERE DO I HOLD MY CHRISTMAS PARTY? Whether the party is held on or off site it is not tax deductible therefore no GST credits are claimable and it will be part of your expenses when it comes to the end of financial year. If the cost per person is kept to less than $300 per person then Fringe Benefits Tax does come into play.

05.01.2022 Day 3 - Christmas parties and gift guide 3. WHAT GIFT SHOULD I GIVE? If you choose to give a gift to employees and clients, remember it is your choice and not to be expected. Again the ATO has put their stamp on gifts and there are certain rules that apply.... Once again the minor gift exemption is applied. The cost of the gift is treated separately to the cost of the Christmas Party. Non-entertainment gifts such as hampers, gift cards, flowers, wine or spirits, are not subject to Fringe Benefits Tax if under $300 and are not tax deductible. Gifts to clients are tax deductible and GST Credits are claimable if classed as a minor gift. Entertainment gifts are considered not a tax deduction whether you are giving them to employees or clients. These include tickets to a show, flights, movie tickets.
