21.01.2022 I N T R O D U C I N G Masters Dance Pairs, Bernadine & Kevin Geary When Kevin dusted off his skates after a 20 plus year break, he had no idea that he would inspire his wife to get on the dance floor skating with him. The two always had a passion for dancing the night away but doing it on skates took it to a whole new level!... Bernadine was a complete novice learning to skate as an adult. Her memories of skating holding onto the rink edges & hiring rentals are all too vivid. She was determined to get out there and someday skate with her husband & that’s what she set out to do. Hours of going around & around in circles like Daniel Larusso in Karate Kid finally paid off when Kevin thought she just might be okay to join him on the skating floor. Kevin is a multiple National & International Champion in numerous disciplines including free skating, figures, dance & speed skating. Bernadine always counted herself as the lucky one to have such a talented man to partner up with her. In the last 10 years of skating, the couple have won numerous Victorian & National championships & medalled at the Oceania Championships in 2016. They have had some amazing dance coaches from Brian Inglis, Elfie Schenker & Candace Harrison, along with some very much appreciated help from Martin Haas. Both consider the masters’ scene so much fun in the skating world. They have made so many friends & have skated against some truly talented couples. Skating has no limits says Bernadine. The feeling of freedom as you glide along the floor dancing to your favourite tune with your husband, partner & best friend beats nothing else in this world. 03.01.2022 The resurgence of ROLLER SKATING is being noticed right around the globe. Check out this great article about the boom in popularity across the ditch, in Auckland NZ. I think roller skating has been slowly making a comeback over the last five years, it’s just taken a Covid-19 to make it go boom... I think the extra time and climate of the world has made people go ‘I’m gonna do that thing I’ve always been wanting to do’." This BOOM is also evident in Melbourne RIGHT NOW! An...d while we can't skate indoors at local rinks just yet, you can still count on the Sk8house Sk8shop to supply everything you need so you can practise outdoors in the meantime https://sk8house.myshopify.com/ https://www.sk8house.com.au//how-roller-skating-became-the
