24.01.2022 The South Regional TAFE Albany Campus Tourism students have organised a beach clean up on Friday September 18th and Skal Albany members are invited to attend and help out at this great sustainability initiative. Participants are asked to meet Perkins Beach car park at 10am and then the group will work along the beach towards Cosy Corner. Having organised this event the South Regional TAFE students would be happy to talk to anyone wanting to organise a different event (for ex...ample a bush cleanup) and pass on anything they have learnt from the experience. The students are also looking at other ways to pass on tips about sustainable travel at some upcoming events in town. Please send Skal Albany or a committee member a message if you would like to get in contact with the students. For more information on beach clean-ups or to plan one yourself visit https://www.tangaroablue.org/

13.01.2022 A fantastic night was had by all last Wednesday at Kurrah Mia Gallery for our November members function. Thank you to Ron for providing an amazing insight into the variety of artworks on display and showing us how to ‘hear’ the sounds of each didgeridoo. A delicious dinner was then enjoyed across the road at Lime 303.

12.01.2022 Normally we would be getting ready for our monthly members function, but as with all social gatherings, these are on hold until it is safe to do so again. Your Skål Albany committee members are working through ways we can digitally get together (with drink in hand) going forward, so watch out for the invitation and download the zoom app in readiness. We also want to encourage all Skål members and friends to keep in touch through our Facebook page. Please use our newly created Skål Albany group, under the 'Groups' tab, on our Facebook page to share your stories, photos, and most importantly to support each other as we work through the unprecedented times ahead. Skål is about doing business with friends, and as friends we will support each other until we are all back doing the business we love.

09.01.2022 Just checking in how everyone is going? There is some solace being a member of Skal. One of my daughters is in Wellington and an hour ago her flights were all just cancelled to come home. She has changed to fly with Air NZ so hopefully sorted now but if she does remain stuck in NZ I will call on my Skal friends to help out if needed.

09.01.2022 Skal Albany members had a beautiful evening at the Karribank and the Karri On Bar last Wednesday night for our December Christmas function. Karri on Bar offers award winning local beer, wine, and simple delicious food. With spacious indoor and outdoor settings, and a cosy fireplace, it’s a great location year round to enjoy the company of friends. Members joined KarriBank owner Dan Blythe for a personal tour through the variety of short-stay accommodation cottages available and viewed what will become KarriBank’s future functions space. A delicious meal and lots of Christmas cheer was then enjoyed at the bar.

05.01.2022 On a chilly July night Skål Albany Club members and guests, Australia's South West CEO Catrin Allsop and Andrew Oldfield, were warmly welcomed into the cosy lounge at Best Western Albany Motel & Apartments for the first in-person club function since COVID-19 restrictions rolled out. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with our local tourism friends and also join into the state-wide Zoom with Perth, Broome and Kununurra clubs. During the Zoom session each club shared insi...ghts into the COVID-19 experiences of both their members and the region, painting a picture of the range of effects the restrictions have had, and are still having, across the state. The Zoom gathering was also a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate both Albany and Perth Clubs’ nominations for Skål International Club of the year. Fingers crossed one of us brings home the win for WA! Thanks to Vanessa Thomson, and Karen and Arther Drage at Best Western Albany Motel & Apartments for a lovely relaxed evening to bring the tribe back together. Make sure to come along to our next function on Wednesday 5th August at The Curry House, RSVP and further details - August Skål Albany Function.
