19.01.2022 A big congratulations to Kindness Shake for the recognition that they have received from the City of Darwin for the community event of the year. The Kindness Shake is a community-led initiative set up in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. It supports and focuses on international students and temporary visa holders who are experiencing financial difficulty.... Many international students who worked in the Darwin hospitality industry lost their jobs and were unable to access government assistance. The Kindness Shake moved quickly to provide free meals, create a sense of connection and support for many students and community members who were feeling the weight of isolation far from home. Since its launch in April 2020, the partnership between international student volunteers, education providers, local businesses, multicultural groups and government has allowed them to serve more than 4,000 meals, assist 500 people, partner with 30 organisations and businesses, recruit 50 volunteers and raise more than $40,000.

06.01.2022 To help support our local tourism operators to improve their visitor experiences and rebound from the impacts of COVID-19, grants of up to $50,000 are available under Round 4 of the Territory Government’s Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP). The VEEP program has been instrumental in providing support to local tourism businesses who need it now more than ever. The grants support the enhancement of visitor offerings, which help to attract positive online reviews and ...recommendations and drive bookings. VEEP not only stimulates private investment but supports jobs in other industries with applicants required to buy local. To apply for VEEP Round 4 visit grantsnt.nt.gov.au Round 4 will close 31 August 2020, with projects to be completed by 31 December 2021 and applicants required to provide matched funding. To find out more visit https://www.tourismnt.com.au//visitor-experience-enhanceme inister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss: The Visitor Experience Enhancement Program is back for Round 4 to assist tourism operators who have been hit hard by coronavirus to upgrade their facilities or experiences. The program supports and creates jobs in other industries, as applicants need to provide evidence they will use NT suppliers and NT content. Word of mouth is extremely important - we want to help operators to create truly memorable experiences for visitors so when they leave the Territory they tell others what an amazing time they had here. Quotes from Ben Reichstein, Oasis Tourist Park: We received funding in VEEP Round 3 to build a new camp kitchen which we wouldn’t have been able to do if not for this great initiative. The results are fantastic and it has become a great place for our guests to relax and swap travel stories. It’s great to hear VEEP is back. Particularly in the current environment, this is a great incentive for tourism operators to improve their facilities or business offerings and help spread positive recommendations of the Territory’s experiences and attractions across Australia.
