24.01.2022 First batch of empty bowls to be donated for @Empty Bowls. A fundraising event happening soon with proceeds to Foodbank: https://facebook.com/events/s/empty-bowls-perth/684574809055558/?ti=cl These pots have been repurposed, originally made by my students whom have not come back to pick up or finish off their work, having been left here abandoned, they have a new lease on life, hopefully going to a loving home.

18.01.2022 Hi Folks, After September all pots unclaimed for 6 months or more will be re-purposed. Im glad Ive had so many students to have this problem but its a necess...ary albeit sad decision. My studio doesnt have enough space to continue storing all the unclaimed pots (some from over 2yrs ago now). Please feel free to call or message me to arrange collection. Cheers, Sandy m: 0421831033 See more

17.01.2022 Did some experimental firing yesterday in my little 10amp kiln Absolutely loving the results One with strands of copper wire & seaweed. The other with fe...rric chloride, strands of copper wire & steel wool. Some of the seaweed I used did nothing but disappear. 12.01.2022 I love nature and finding naturally ocurring patterns Preparing to soften some hard clay this morning and discovered some algae created this lovely design. Its almost a shame to destroy it so captured it for posterity
12.01.2022 Only just over half way on this commission to make a water feature jug. Overall dimensions are to be 46cm wide & 40cm tall to allow for shrinkage to the specified size. This is going to be one HUGE pot when its finished Fingers crossed it survives the firing
11.01.2022 Sooo Happy And very Thankful to the Fire Gods My first major firing of Students pieces done in the Gas kiln worked beautifully Is it too early to break out the bubbles?
11.01.2022 Fascinating read on the firing process of clay Did you know the formula for clay is: Al2O32SiO22H2O? https://ceramicartsnetwork.org//firing-clay-lowdown-ceram/
10.01.2022 Kiln room is almost all organised Power relay switches are installed on both sides (never have to unplug another hot kiln ever again ), ceiling replaced & insulated with extra wide gutter (no more stress about rain getting in. Just need to get the sash window moved out (covered in green tarp), extraction system installed and brighter lights and it will be perfectamundo
10.01.2022 One of my Broome students asked me how long it takes me to throw a bowl with same weight of clay as I give them (600g) & I couldn't answer so this morning I set myself the challenge. How long would it take me? Now I know, not super fast, but worthy effort, I think: ~3' 45"
