16.01.2022 Hi everyone, We have had a lot of requests for an Under 21's event and we have been fortunate enough to engage Linda Hingst to host a training weekend on behalf... of the club. DWHDC will host the nominations but the event will be held at Linda Hingst's Mount Archer property. Linda will provide Health Dec and Event waiver forms. To nominate go to: https://www.dwhdc.com.au/nomination_form/nom_form.php and select ***UNDER 21 Campdraft Clinic Weekend Linda Hingst 4th and 5th July*** event in the drop down box. The cost is $250 for the weekend and is fully catered. General format for our 2 day clinics. Maximum of 12 students per school we have plenty of cattle available for everyone to have multiple runs per horse. This clinic is organized by DWHDC for under 21’s , advanced or beginners. The format for the clinic can be altered to suit unique situations. Safety is always the largest factor in any horse discipline, so everyone is encouraged to assess their own horse, gear and surrounds to be sure that there are no accidents. Day 1 Starts with dry work to get horses and riders up to a consistent level. This time is devoted to basic horsemanship, safety issues and the basics of a Cut Out. We explain the technique required for cut outs, the aids for your horse and how to pick a beast. We work through having a run and how to get your horse ready to compete. We will use the Coach on horseback to teach horses and riders to rate and learn the course, mimicking cattle and competition. The day finishes with everyone having a run on cattle, and some more dry work to finish off. Day 2 Following along the same format as Day 1, but much more quickly, participants will do some dry work and any specifics for those that still have the energy to continue. Preparation includes an overview of Campdraft Rules and what a judge may look for, cattle welfare, and many other interesting pointers. After lunch a final run, Having a run on cattle later that day, and seeing the results of their hard work from Day 1. Camping is also available for the weekend. If you have any questions about this event please email [email protected] or phone Jen Sommerfeld on 0438 863148

02.01.2022 Hyoid & temporomandibular (TMJ) joint, the only joint a horse can self Manipulate, today I brought Sophie into work. So I felt it was a great time to make sure her entire body was in balanced with one simple treatment. Any horse that is being started, had an accident or a spell should be balanced before work . The hyoid apparatus, a small collection of bones nestled under the mandible and in front of the cervical spine, and its connection with the fascia exemplify this understanding, with far-reaching connections and the capacity to communicate with structures all the way from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail.
