24.01.2022 Time to tell the story of this little princess. Beige collar in Rhumba's litter - a Tabby Point bicolour girl. I wish I'd taken pics from Day 1 but I didn't as I thought it would be a sad ending. Anyway, little Beige was born with a badly deformed, twisted right front leg. At birth I briefly wondered if we should put her down as I didn't see how she would cope and compete among the others. However once I'd bottle fed her I was determined to rear her no matter what. We bonded ...<3 . I was still very worried she would die, as when you can see obvious external deformities it is quite likely there could also be internal issues too. Anyway Beige thrived day by day. I put off a Vet visit as I didn't want to hear any bad news, kept gently massaging her leg and doing physio with her. By about Day 10 we headed to the Vet. You could just see her markings coming in, her little tabby points and white mittens. Sure enough the Vet took one look and confirmed what I feared. The ankle joint was fused with the foot bent backwards, and the foot itself malformed - it would require amputation from the shoulder, a 3 legged kitty. I told him I couldn't bear to cut off her little snowshoe, and I did feel there was some improvement in the joint, so we agreed to just see how she went as time progressed but in the likely knowledge that her leg would be amputated when she was spayed. She would be a special needs kitten. Well Beige had other ideas. At 3 - 4 weeks and starting to walk she was starting to drag that foot through and use it. She preferred that to knuckling and walking on the back of her foot & ankle joint. The more she used it the better she got. Now my little cripple is no longer, she is flying around, running, jumping and climbing with the rest of them. Her foot is not normal and will never be, it's like a split cloven foot in two halves but she manages just fine. You can also still see the lump in her ankle joint as it is still fused, but her leg works okay anyway. Next week we head to the Vet for vaccinations - I can't wait to show her off! They will be astonished at how good she is, it never seemed possible at the beginning. Beige Collar - a very special girl. See more

23.01.2022 Welcome to the world SEVEN sno-babies born to Larissa yesterday morning. She's a wonderful Mum.

17.01.2022 The Class of 2020. For once all kittens have stayed in Victoria so far, as interstate travel has been so difficult. Precious babies, and fantastic Mums who have been a pleasure to work with.

15.01.2022 Hungry kitties - poor Sammy is getting swamped.

14.01.2022 I can't believe we have kittens available - but we do! These two lovely Red Point boys were each reserved for families who became last minute cancellations for legitimate reasons. Cabby & Mitch are 3 months old & ready to go right now. Further details on both can be found here:... https://snowshoecats.webs.com/red-boys-x-2 MC 956000007462791 & 956000007463527 PER SN RB100020. FCCV Breeder 7314. Located Croydon North, Vic. For further details please look at the link provided: https://snowshoecats.webs.com/red-boys-x-2 Ph: Cathy Webb 03 9736 9425.

13.01.2022 Guess who is back! My lovely Ashanti returned a week ago after a failed adoption. The resident cat took exception to her and we all decided it wasn't going to work out. I can't thank Taylah & Adir enough for putting Ashanti's needs above their own. This is the reason that all of our retirees go on a trial period in their new home - just to make sure.

12.01.2022 Rhumba is settling into motherhood a lot better now.

03.01.2022 2020 year in review. It’s been a challenging year this year, with all the usual highs and lows plus the frustration from the covid shut down. The lowest point of the year was farewelling our beautiful boy Prince early in the year. This lovely cat has contributed so much to our Australian Snowshoes, and his lovely calm nature and sweet cuddly personality made him a great favourite of ours. Hopefully his bloodlines will live on in many Australian Snowshoes for quite a while. Th...e high point of the year gets divided by the early Show success of the lovely Merlin, although sadly Covid halted our Show season. Still this wonderful boy did exceptionally well at his only two Shows early in the year. The other high point has been the glorious litters of kittens we have produced this year. Somewhere along the way we seem to have discovered the Fountain of Fertility and we had a year of large and healthy litters. The frustrations of the covid shutdown were many the main one being lack of interstate transport so that we were unable to transport cats interstate readily. As a consequence all of this years kittens have stayed in Victoria to date. The other issue was getting the interstate Queens here for breeding, which for most of the year we were unable to do. Fortunately now though Snowmitts in Tasmania has kittens, and both Bellahima & Skidoo in NSW are expecting litters soon. Plus our newest breeder Latitude 17 from Cairns will hopefully be expecting their first litter in early March, all being well. So we come to the end of 2020, hoping that 2021 has more to offer for the Cat World, and less in the way of Covid shut downs & frustrations. The attached photo is our lovely boy Prince. I feel blessed to have shared 7.5 years with him. Such a special boy.

01.01.2022 Welcome to the world 7 new Sno-babies. First time mum Rhumba is fairly overwhelmed, luckily her mate Larissa assisted throughout otherwise no kittens would have been cleaned! But two Mums and umpteen babies in a box at once while birthing underway was a bit hair-raising - so here are the pics of the first 5 waiting patiently on a heat pad in a box next to the birthing box, and Mum Rhumba with kit number 6 (another arrived after this to make it 7), with Larissa standing by to assist.
