18.01.2022 In October last year, #Woolworths revealed that it had underpaid at least 5,700 salaried store employees for nearly a decade by not accounting for individual salaries for the number of hours and times worked for a total of $500 million. Woolworth’s staff were covered by 15 separate Awards and under the General Retail Industry Award, there were 35 clauses and 2,000 rules putting enormous pressure to comply and outlining that there is a need for a simpler way. Employers receiving payments for an employee need to pay them the higher of the following amounts each fortnight: The amount of applicable payment Their usual pay for work performed (including paid leave or public holiday pay) Employees who take annual leave during this period will need to be paid the higher of the relevant JobKeeper payment or the amount t...hey are entitled to while they’re on leave.
