25.01.2022 NEW EXPRESS LABEL REVIEW + $99 offer I know as a small skincare startup, money can be tight I’ve been there myself. But at the same time I know how important it is to get your labels right from the get-go, to save yourself time and money reprinting incorrect labels.... That’s why I now offer an Express Label Review option. It’s a new service to give you peace of mind your label is compliant at a more affordable price point. The review is suitable for full-size skincare products that have a label affixed to the jar/bottle/container, without any outer packaging. Click to read more about what it includes (scroll down to 'Express Label Review'). If you're on my mailing list, check your inbox for more details on the $99 offer - valid to 30 April. (If you're not on the list and interested in the offer, let me know and we can make it happen). https://www.skincarebusinessfoundations.com.au/skincare-co/

23.01.2022 With the current coronavirus situation I’m starting to see a lot of hand sanitisers being advertised and also some misinformation around regulations that apply to them. A lot of people say ‘sanitisers have to be approved with the TGA’. But it’s not always the TYPE of product that determines whether something is a therapeutic good and needs to be listed with the TGA. It comes down to the CLAIMS made about it, e.g. whether it’s antibacterial (OK) or antiviral (needs TGA approv...al). Update: The TGA has also now stated that use of the phrase kills 99.9% of germs is an acceptable claim. With coronavirus being a VIRUS it could open yourself up to false and misleading claims (as well as illegal therapeutic claims) to insinuate a product will help prevent it. As you know I’m passionate about compliance but also about customer safety - which is why these laws exist in the first place. So if you’re selling hand sanitisers, please take this information into consideration. Do not make ANY KIND of antiviral claims (unless your product has been approved by the TGA which is unlikely). And remember that you’ll need to have done adequate TESTING to make sure you can substantiate any claims you make. Here’s a useful link I came across that may help you understand further: https://www.tga.gov.au//disinfectant-claim-guide-specific- And here’s a warning from the TGA about making claims about coronavirus which also has a link to more info around disinfectants: https://www.tga.gov.au//warning-about-products-claiming-tr And an article about soap versus hand sanitiser: https://www.rollingstone.com//hand-sanitizer-effectiv/amp/ Hope that helps!

16.01.2022 Getting in a bit early - Merry Christmas everyone! I truly appreciate all your support this year and hope you have a wonderful day with your loved ones
16.01.2022 NICNAS has shared some informational videos about their upcoming changes. I’m planning to do a blog post about them in June closer to when the changes commence
12.01.2022 I often get asked what my background and qualifications are as a cosmetic regulatory consultant. Which is fair enough - if you’re going to pay for advice from someone, you want to make sure they know their stuff. So here’s a bit more about me I have a double degree in Business Management and Psychology (I also have a Cert IV in Compliance Management, Certificate in Governance and Risk Management and am a qualified Lead Auditor)... I have a 10-year+ corporate background in risk management, auditing and compliance (mainly in financial services and energy) I started my own skincare business in 2015 and learnt all about Australian cosmetic industry regulations (I’m a total compliance nerd, so loved reading and interpreting the legislation) I formalised my industry knowledge by completing a Certificate of Cosmetic Regulatory Essentials through Sunshine Coast-based Institute of Personal Care Science (IPCS) in 2019. (The course was so in-depth and I learnt things I didn’t know before. Belinda Carli is extremely knowledgeable and the support she provided in answering my very specific questions to further my knowledge was amazing. I highly recommend studying through them.) I hope that helps you feel confident about working with me to ensure your business is compliant - About Skincare Business Foundations: Skincare Business Foundations was born in 2018, when I decided to combine my business know-how and cosmetic industry knowledge to help others understand their legal obligations and be compliant. Now I help skincare business owners get peace of mind they are compliant through my range of affordable resources and services. I also have the only course on how to start a skincare business in Australia (but if you’re looking for cosmetic chemistry or formulation courses - check out IPCS). To read more about how I can help you through my course, resources and services, check out the website: https://www.skincarebusinessfoundations.com.au
10.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Hope you have a lovely day filled with yummy chocolate
