22.01.2022 "AUSTRALIA AGAIN LEADS THE WORLD IN DEADLY SKIN CANCERS" - A recent article from the Brisbane Times. This article notes the importance of participating in sun safe practices here in Australia. It also illustrates the declining rates of Melanoma diagnosis in younger Australians. We can attribute this to an increase in sun-smart campaigns and an increase in young individuals visiting skin cancer clinics such as ourselves. Its always important to remember that it is never too... late to start sun-safe practises! https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//australia-again-leads-th

16.01.2022 Did you know that a UV Index as little as 3 can be damaging for your skin? This week, Perth has an average temperature of a whopping 40 degrees. With a quick check on https://www.myuv.com.au/ we can see that todays UV index is sitting at 13! What is a UV Index? ... The UV Index is a tool you can use to protect yourself from UV radiation. It tells you the time during the day that you need to be sun smart. Sun protection times are issued by the Bureau of Meteorology when the UV Index is forecast to reach 3 or above. At that level, it can damage your skin and lead to skin cancer. Sunscreen should be incorporated into your daily routine on these days. Please be mindful to be sun smart during the reccomended times today between 7:50am - 4:10pm

16.01.2022 We are happy to stock the La Roche-Posay sunscreen range here at Skin Check WA! Currently, two of their products; the Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics Spray + the Anthelios Oil are currently on sale for an amazing price of $25! We love this product as it has a high UVA/UVB protection with broad spectrum SPF 50+. It is also a light but nourishing formulation which absorbs easily and is ultra-hydrating with a virtually invisible finish. Its Fragrence free, paraben free and great for sensitive skin :-) Available to purchase across all our clinics; until stock lasts.

01.01.2022 NATIONAL SKIN CANCER ACTION WEEK 2018 Each year Cancer Council Australia and the Australasian College of Dermatologists come together for National Skin Cancer Action Week. Thats why this National Skin Cancer Action Week and throughout summer Cancer Council is encouraging everyone to #OwnYourTone and embrace your natural skin tone. Make the pledge today to protect yourself from UV radiation and abstain from tanning. During National Skin Cancer Action Week and throughout summer, whenever the UV index is three or above, use the five forms of sun protection and #OwnYourTone by: slip on sun-protective clothing slop on SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen slap on a broad-brimmed hat seek shade slide on sunglasses.
