01.01.2022 HORMONAL ACNE What is hormonal acne? It is acne that occurs due to a fluctuation of hormones in your body. This can be from puberty, your menstrual cycle, PSOS, stress, menopause, pregnancy, an underlying health issue or new contraception- also discontinuing contraception. Hormonal acne is different to other types of acne as it occurs from a reoccurring hormonal imbalance. What does it look like? ... Hormonal acne during puberty appears in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Hormonal adult acne usually appears along the cheeks, jawline and neck area. How do I treat it? -See a dermatologist or esthetician -Have your blood taken and your hormone balance checked. -See your doctor or Naturopath. Look at that after glow Its great to see improvements with my clients skin We used the @esthemaxau activated charcoal Hydrojelly mask along the jaw line and the Super Greens for the rest of the face. Each client has unique skin, so each appointment is totally customised to help your skin to the best of its ability. . . I just want to talk about break outs along the jawline line/chin area, because thats where majority... of my clients have trouble with their skin! Firstly, its a very normal occurrence! So dont feel alone. Breakouts in this particular area happen a lot to women over the age of 20, and most of the time it is due to hormonal and stress reasons. When hormones and stress are involved, the amount of oil thats produced becomes more frequent and with that comes more clogged pores. Another reason for breakouts in this area is because you may be resting your hand on the bottom half of your face without realising - which can spread dirt and bacteria. The warmth of your hands provides an ideal breeding ground for bacteria growth too. Your pillowcase can also effect the skin. A silk pillowcase is best as silk doesnt absorb oil. Even if our hair is clean, it still contains oil. If you have a cotton pillow case, the oil from your hair and face sits on the surface of the case, and you then lay your face (particularly the jawline line/cheek area) on it for hours at night time. If youre not wanting to purchase a silk pillowcase, try changing and washing the case regularly instead.
