03.01.2022 Read Shannon’s story and don’t forget to nominate someone A few tears shed so glad you enjoyed your day, you are both amazing Shannon Be proud of yourself you an awesome inspirational young woman xx There are no words to explain how thankful we truly are for such an amazing day by Fi and the girls at Skin Plus Beauty for being the first unsung heroes for 'Ann's Gift' Greeted first by Fi and Gess' smiley faces with a bunch of flowers, then being pampered from head to toe f...or a couple of hours feeling oh so relaxed and on cloud 9, to spending a lovely lunch also organised by Fi at the Side Door restaurant. It was such a beautiful day spending some mumma/daughter time, being pampered and we definitely felt the love from everyone! Where do I start? My story.. its a long one but I'll try and keep it short. On the 26th June 2011 I was hit by a car, pushed into a bonfire and trapped under the car in the fire burning alive. The RAC helicopter picked me up a few hours later and flew me to Royal Perth Hospital where I underwent emergency skin graft and debridement removal surgery, spray on skin, scans then into an induced coma for a few days. I received 54% full thickness burns to my torso, legs, arms and face. I was an inpatient at RPH burns unit for what I thought was the hardest 7 weeks of my life.. but those hard times continued with the daily drives to Perth for numerous treatments ie - physiotherapy, psychologist and psychiatrist sessions, occupational therapy, weekly burn reviews, tightening of my burn garments, burns massages, it was never ending! Now fast forward 9 years, less appointments and reviews. I am one strong women! I've endured hell but I have risen out of those ashes a phoenix with the support, strength, love and courage of my amazing family who I wouldn't be here without them, my friends and surrounding communities and there is no way i can ever repay them, I'll always be grateful for everything everyone has done Fi, you are a phenomenal human being with a massive heart of gold! Your beautiful mum would be smiling from heaven knowing you are making a difference in so many peoples lives and she's possibly even reading this Facebook post! I know we all met for a reason, yourself and all the girls have been a huge part of my healing journey and I am so very thankful See more
