24.01.2022 Its seems every other week since the waste levy commenced that disposal sites keep changing the price of receiving waste. Basically more coming in and more focus on waste that can be recycled and insufficient demand for product that can be recycled. Its a FLAW Policy that does not recognise the true nature of waste and how its generated and whether there is even a market for the recycled product. We received the following from one of the LARGEST receivers of waste today. Sin...ce the introduction of the levy, we have worked towards appropriate rates for our products in a levy environment. Further to the levy there have been changes in the product specifications as end users of our recycled products narrow down their acceptance criteria and/or residual products become more costly to dispose. In the case of concrete there has been an industry wide reduction in the construction market which has affected both quarries and recycled aggregate producers equally. The effect of this will continue and we will see further reductions in aggregate consumption impacting on the ability for outgoing products to subsidise the cost of receiving and processing incoming concrete. Since Jan. we have seen MOST sites receiving green waste and timber close their gates or increase pricing as the stockpiles grow. In a nutshell the only products that can be further recycled (as metals etc have always been recycled) is timber, green waste, bricks and concrete. If inevitability there is no where to take timber or green its going to go to landfill. It would be easy to say that this was expected as behaviour change. It was inevitable that there is insufficient opportunity and markets for the end products.

08.01.2022 Another story that pretty much sums up the inability of Governments to manage anything but their superannuation and pay cheques. https://www.goondiwindiargus.com.au//nsw-lobby-group-call/ If for once a government took the money that they take from businesses and households and actually invested in back into technology then they would be driving a successful policy. ... $800 Million from ONE year could drive a significant change! Multiply this out over ALL the years NSW has had a levy and the mind boggles as to what could have been possible. In Queensland we are simply following the blind ignorance of the other states. If the other states have a levy then it follows we should have a levy. 8 Months into the levy and the score card says 'FAILED'.
