21.01.2022 We were solid across the board at YBFOC III but only the 1st XI left Yarra Bend with six points, solidifying their spot in the top four after a terrific all-round performance from Bhanuka and excellent bowling from Pat and Schoey. A well organised 41 from Ed Bourke took the 2s to a competitive score against LaTrobe, but the home side were too strong despite fantastic bowling from Aanensen and Cudlipp. The 3rd XI bowled beautifully, led by club debutant Stuart 'Rob' Campbell and Chris Silvapulle, before a valiant knock from Declan Hamilton got the boys to 80, short of their target.
20.01.2022 Today is a proud day for the club, with our women's team playing their first ever match at Lynden Park in Camberwell this afternoon! The club has entered into Cricket Victoria's East Metro Social Cricket Competition, where there will be three 14-over-a-side games on Sunday afternoons with a round robin finals day on March 14. Today's fixture is against a combined Kew Cricket Club/Thornbury Turf Strokers side (yes, you read that right the first time).... Best of luck to our new players, and we hope to see great support at Lynden Park from 2-4pm and/or the Elgin Inn from 5pm to celebrate the occasion!
19.01.2022 Our Kookaburra Cricket T20 Cup campaign begins tonight at Donvale! Tom Vanderslik returns to the club, although while he was previously the Marquee Monkeys Marquee Player, under this season's new competition rules he must be referred to as the Marquee Monkeys Guest Player. John MacKinnon makes his T20 debut for the club and Sam Browne and Ed Bourke return to the side, who will take on an exciting Donvale team led by Sri Lankan test batsman Kaushal Silva. Hope to see you there!
11.01.2022 The 3rd XI had a huge win on Saturday after Josh Willett tore through second-placed Mazenod with a five-wicket haul! Tim Miles brought up the winning runs with a six over square leg to cap off a stirring victory. The 2s strangled Richmond Union after grinding their way to 124 on enormous 90-metre boundaries at Yarra Bend. The offending cone-placers have been dealt with. Ben Cudlipp was tremendous with four wickets, turning the match into SKOB's favour as the 2s returned to the top four. The 1st XI remain in the top four on percentage despite losing to top-of-the-table Glen Iris, with Alex Brebner Griffin starring with an unbeaten maiden fifty for the club and Mick Turnbull returning to form with 44.
