12.01.2022 A rainstorm approaching the rugged coast of Macquarie Island and the Aurora Australis sitting pretty Sadly this very special ship will be departing Hobart for good within a few weeks. It has served for over 30 years as the primary research vessel for antarctica.gov.au, ferrying equipment, supplies and voyagers between Hobart, Australia’s antarctic bases and Macquarie Island, and enabling important scientific research. We were fortunate enough to take the voyage to Mac...quarie Island in March 2018 and fulfil our bucket list dream of travelling aboard the Aurora. It has been a part of history, and a part of so many people’s lives over the last 3 decades. It will be sorely missed. See more
