25.01.2022 A big congratulations to Sharyn Gray in winning the coursing Oaks today. It was also a pleasant surprise to have the runner up in Wood Veneer. The final was a terrific slip and course, with Write About Her too strong at the finish. Boogie Shoes met the well performed Weblec Nic in the final of the FFA, a course I was anticipating. Unfortunately The dogs bumped at release and Sally slipped and stumbled over, conceding too many lengths early to make up, but not without trying. Spring Rodney also made the final of a maiden event, leading most of the way, but the white collar proved too strong. Mucho thanks to Gayle Turner for catching, and to those that helped manhandle the naughty Rodney.

19.01.2022 5 runners this week for the kennels. Tomorrow Sam and GG head to Angle Park for the time graded meeting. GG is 2nd pick in a grade 6 388m. Sam is generous odds from box 2 in a 515m Grade 5 event. Friday at Strathalbyn we have Bart the Fart in a quality 319m Grade 6, Covey the Bulldog is not without a good chance in a 319m Veterans, while Sol returns to the track after a lengthy time off, jumping from box 8 in a grade 5 319m.

18.01.2022 The first Woodnear's are here! Whitney decided to start redecorating her whelping box at 2.30am, including a BMX track, Jungle Jim and lots of Hide and Seek places. Then tried to convince me that the 4x4x4 hole she had dug in her yard was a better place to deposit her little treasures. After falling asleep on her mound of carpet, blankets and paper, I decided to set the alarm for 4.30am and grab a short nap myself. At 4.30 I heard the squeals of the first born, and her 2 brot...hers and sister all duly arrived without incident by 8.30am. So after cleaning up her pigsty, finishing off the other dogs and grabbing some cheese on toast I'm ready for round 2, and it would seem Whitney is refreshed and everything is to her satisfaction and starting to push the next batch out. Methinks perhaps the 2nd service wasn't necessary??? Oh gosh, more Woody's on their way. See more

16.01.2022 Sad news from the kennels. Zipping Gator has been retired due to ligament damage. Gator ruptured his calf muscle, tearing the achilles tendon sheath earlier in the year. The injury healed remarkably well and he returned to the track with constant vet checks. Gator was never able to show his speed or incredible finish like he had done, and was getting progressively worse. After trying everything, he underwent a full examination. While the muscle and tendon had reparied 100%, a...n xray revealed he had over flexed a ligament in the back of his hock which had pulled away from the bone, taking a piece with it. Every run he had pulled more bone off, and we were extremely lucky the hock didn't give way. Despite this, he still managed a terrific win at Angle Park with placings....a testiment to Gator's incredible heart and ability. It has been an absolute pleasure training Gator. I fell in love with him the moment he stepped off the plane. He was an exciting race dog that thrilled us with his explosive finishes, and had only started to reach his peak. We will never know what he could have achieved, but he was something special. Gator is a gentleman to handle, with a wonderful nature. He is being offered for adoption, and would fit into any lifestyle easily. See more

14.01.2022 Girls day out at the coursing today. My Name’s Hayley, Wood Veneer and Boogie Shoes all saluted to make it a treble.

10.01.2022 Some great pics courtesy of Kurt Donsberg Photography ... Emerley Cosmic and Good Gone Bad.

09.01.2022 Not a bad week for the kennels. Bart (Emerley Cosmic) was too strong, winning on debut for his new owner and trainer at Gawler last Sunday. Vagas was well supported but just failed, running 2nd on Thursday night at head quarters. Friday at Strathalbyn, and GG (Good Gone Bad) jumped well and was 2nd before running a bit wide, but rattled home for an honest 3rd. Bulldog Covey posted another slick 1st split (5.91), but hit the wall and wound up 2nd. ... Unfortunately Bart got caught up in the shenanigans first turn, and played pinball (he was the ball). A run best struck off the punter's guide. ;) Tomorrow is assessment day for Nemo, Daisy, Roscoe, Nussin, Belgarion and Gator. And today Belgarion and Gator got arseholed out of their kennels to make way for Whitney's birthing suite to go up :) (Don't worry, both boys have alternative accomodation!) Whitney has almost doubled in size this week, so a good chance of more than a couple little Woodys! We have around 10-12 days to go...plenty of time for Whitney to destroy things, and turn all of the pups around the wrong way Sam and Sol are coming along nicely, Sam is ready to hit the track, and Sol isn't too far behind.

09.01.2022 Oh gosh...the time has flown and so much has happened in the last 8 weeks. Firstly, we said goodbye to Sol and Sam, but never fear! They have crossed the border and are now with new trainers in Victoria. Hopefully they can return to the winner's circle before long. The puppies are now vaccinated and out in the big yard. They may be weaned, but still enjoying mum's company ... well for now. Nemo has been desexed and will go into her foster/adoption home in just over a week.... Bart The Fart has been running well, including a terrific win at Angle Park on a Thursday night, and again won well over the 416m at Strath last Sunday. Unfortunately he hit the running rail while in a handy position last Thursday at Angle Park. He has box 1 Tuesday at Gawler over the 531m. Welcome to a new syndicate...the Riverside Managers...made up of well, the Riverside Hotel's managers - Mark, Phil and JJ. They have purchased Spring Clarkie, and he raced last Sunday for a strong 2nd at Strath. Last Thursday he jumped well and was in a handy position at Angle Park before being pushed wide and he lost all momentum after that. He is returnng to the longer distance after several months running the shorter distances, and his fitness and times are slowly coming together. He has box 3 on Tuesday at Gawler in a grade 5 400m. After an all the way win at Angle Park over 388m, GG has had his fair share of unlucky runs, and steps out of the 3 box tomorrow at Gawler in the last race. (Typical). Will be interesting to see what happens. George is nearing the end of his spell after breaking in. He has so far showed some good box speed and early straight line speed, just have to get the power steering fixed and then finish off his pretraining. Bart winning at Angle Park in fine style....

08.01.2022 NO.....I haven't written anything lately. Stop looking LOL

08.01.2022 Last Sunday was a big day, and not just for the Strath Cup final, or Bart winning and Clarkie running 2nd.....but also because I sort of ran over Minimax :( Well actually, what happened was after I hooked up the trailer to get ready to head off, Minimax must have ran behind the car and got hit by the trailer. But anyway, all I saw was a little white blob screaming and limping to me. After picking him up, (and getting a tooth through my thumb), it was pretty clear his wrist wa...sn't supposed to be on that angle. So to cut a long story short, He went to hospital for a few days, where Dr. Greg did some xrays and scans. The good news was there was no internal damage, just some severe bruising. He did however dislocate something off of something in the hip/pelvis area. Apparantly it will mend, but I must make a note of asking Greg more about that!. His wrist wasn't broken, but a major ligament had been ripped off (again, make mental note to find out the details). Minimax has had surgery to fuse the wrist, and is peglegging it in a splint. So a very happy little dog came home with us and the big boys Thursday night. He has along way to go to recovery yet, but he's getting there. See more

07.01.2022 No tail wind or downpour to affect track times today. In the BOD, George makes it 4 wins with 3 placings from 8 starts. https://youtu.be/kuv7zImsyB4

03.01.2022 Gunner George at nearly 3 1/2, has rewarded our patience in waiting for the straight track to be built. Suffering an otherwise career ending injury at break in, George won again, this time in the BOD. George has never grown up, and every day is a challenge with his antics.....but this makes it all worthwhile https://youtu.be/ZMJux6AYkWo

01.01.2022 OK, a short update. We had a small bout of kennel cough, putting Sam and Sol back a bit. Sam has recovered well and had his first free gallop today. Sol is still a little husky (little Huskies are soooo cute, but no sorry, not THAT kind of a Husky :) ), but he is doing some light walking. GG's fibula has healed up nicely and he returned to the coursing last meeting. He contests the Derby tomorrow.... Gator pulled in a good string of placings with a win, but tapered off a bit. He heads to Dr. Greg next week to see if we can't work out what is bothering him. Vagas fooled the punters last week at Strath with a terrific win over 416m. He goes into the final tomorrow evening as one of the favourites. Covey broke 6 seconds...again... but had to watch Matt's Boy's arse over the line. What a couple of great sprinters that always give a good showing when they meet. Both boys have to be a good chance but at much shorter odds than last week. Not long to go before we find out if Whitney and Woody will spawn devil pups. Milly still refuses to come on season, God help us (and Woody) when she does. Bart had a handslip last night and scraped paint. A race start for us isn't too far away. And George the devil pup had his first big boy outing at Strath last night. He got all the way around and went in on the lure. :) Happy now??? HaHa.
