23.01.2022 In podiatry, there is almost never a silver bullet. When we review treatment plans we are looking for key indicators that you are on the right track to Pain Free! We are constantly re-evaluating everything you and your feet are doing, even if you do not see it. ... 22.01.2022 The pressure plate is the new toy we’ve got in the clinic! Our podiatrists use sophisticated computer sensors in the floor mat to measure the pressure under each part of your feet as you walk, providing clear graphical images charts and a comprehensive report. The podiatrist uses these results to customise your treatment plan with, for example, the correct orthotic prescription. Feet that exhibit higher pressure can cause pain and degeneration of your foot structures, and different measurements have been shown to cause an abnormal pelvic and lumbar spine movement. This type of asymmetry can be responsible for pain in the back, hips and knees.

18.01.2022 How to utilise our health care sector better in the fight against COIVD-19.

18.01.2022 Anyone who has experienced acute or chronic pain in their life knows how debilitating it can be. In our podiatry practice we help patients every day manage their foot, knee, hip and back pain. The first thing that we do when we are treating pain is to understand the patient goals and their individual situation before completing a comprehensive biomechanical assessment. Because varying factors can affect pain and its severity, a thorough biomechanical assessment is essential t...o understand the limitation and strengths of your body. We achieve this with a hands-on range of motion studies and muscle testing as well as standing and walking assessment. In some cases, further investigation may be required in the form of X-Rays, Ultrasounds or MRIs, in these instances we are able to refer directly to your local Medical Imaging Practice. Completing a biomechanical assessment shines light on a diagnosis and provides us with the information that we required to establish a tailored treatment plan to manage your individual needs. If you are suffering with pain or maybe you are concerned about your feet, dont put it off, prevention is better than a cure. So, shine some light on your body and get assessed and take the first steps to a brighter future. Call today (03) 6732 7838 or Book Online at www.skypodiatry.com.au

16.01.2022 Warts medically known as verruca are a common complaint that we often see in children but can affect individuals of any age. The most important thing is to correctly diagnose that you have a wart so that it can be treated. Things to look for in a suspected wart 1. Skin lines will not travel across a wart ... 2. The centre of the wart will have a Cauliflower like appearance 3. Larger warts will hurt when squeezed and are unlikely to hurt when pressed on from the top. If you are still unsure call today (03) 6732 7838 or book online at www.skypodiatry.com.au 9 year old male diagnosed with a painful verruca pedis at the plantar metatarsal aspect of his left foot in our clinic

12.01.2022 Your gait is your manner of walking and movement Gait analysis is a scientific analysis used by podiatrists to study how your body moves and how this affects your feet, hips, lower back and limbs. During the analysis your movements are observed, measured, recorded and assessed to determine where you place your body weight and how your feet support your body throughout movement.

12.01.2022 If you have ever had an ingrowing toenail, I am sure that you would agree that you never want another one. They can become red, swollen, infected, extremely sore and lets not forget very unsightly. Medically known as onychocryptosis, ingrowing toenails occur when the toenail pierces into the surround skin allowing bacteria to infect the surrounding soft tissue. This is usually use to improper cutting or pick of nails, sweaty feet that causes the surround skin to become soft... and easily penetrated or commonly in more severe cases where toes are excessively fleshy. Mild ingrown toenails are easily managed with proper nail cutting technique or painlessly with conservative resection of the nail by a skilled podiatrist. In more severe cases podiatrists will recommended a minor in chair surgical procedure within the clinic to permanently remove the offending nail. If you have ongoing problems with an ingrowing toenail book an appointment today at Sky Podiatry with one of our skilled podiatrists to discuss a pain and hassle-free future. 01.01.2022 Handy Tips for Foot Health . Have you ever wondered if your Podiatrist or Nail Salon use sterilised instruments? . Podiatrist are required to maintain a strict infection control protocol to ensure that all instruments are clean, autoclaved and are sterile before they ever come into contact with your body. This is important to reduce the risk of harmful fungal and bacterial infections. Our autoclaves are serviced and validated every 12 months or earlier when required to ensu...re we meet strict guidelines. . Look for these key points to ensure your instruments are sterile. . 1. Ensure that instruments are coming out of a sterilisation pouch and are opened in front of you. . 2. Just because instruments come out of a pouch it doesnt mean that they are sterile. On the front or back of the bag there will be an indicator that will change colour when a successful autoclave cycle under steam is completed. . 3. As a safe guard we also use a secondary steam indicator sticker that changes from pink to brown when sterilised. These labels should also contain a Sterilisation Date and Sterilisation Number which we enter onto your treatment notes for tracking purposes. . 4. Every sterilisation load should be recorded by the practice to guarantee your safety and for auditing of infection control guidelines. . . If you are concerned about the cleanliness of the instruments ask your Podiatrist or Nail Salon for evidence and avoid putting your feet at risk! See more
